The great font at Castle Frome, a work of the Herefordshire school of Romanesque sculptors. This one has a baptism scene—complete with fishes. Marvellous. #FontsonFriday
Stone church font carved in relief with a baptism scene of a figure being immersed in a pool in which fishes swim. A pair of birds carved to the right, the whole surrounded by an interlace design.

I’m a great fan of traditional hand-painted signs. Here’s one in Bungay, Suffolk. I don’t know how old it is (early 20th century?) but it must be a while since cattle medicines were available from a High Street pharmacy.
Hand-painted shop sign reading ‘Drugs & cattle medicines. Photographic supplies’.

Here in Gloucestershire we don’t go in much for pictorial town signs like those in Norfolk, but Northleach has a good one. The sheep represents wool which brought prosperity to the town, the keys St Peter, for the church also pictured, the mace the town’s ancient Court Leet.
Oval sign showing the name Northleach and symbols of the town.

Simply amazing dole cupboard in the church at Bungay, Suffolk. A bit of 17th-century folk art, including a rebus consisting of the letter Q enclosing an image of a rat, to indicate that the person who provided the cupboard was the curate (Q-rat).
