Today's #earthquake in S #Tibet had a magnitude Mw7.2 (Geoscope IPGP) - 7.1 (USGS). It's a shallow crustal earthquake. It happened on a N-S normal fault typical of the #tectonics of the southern Tibetan plateau, just N of the Himalayan range. geoscope.ipgp.fr/index.php/fr... ⚒️ 🧪

Map showing the location of the earthquake, in south Tibet, just north of the Himalayan range. It also shows its mechanism: north south normal faulting, and the source time function with a duration of about 22 seconds
