To tell if a maze is solvable, just hang it by its corners If it tears into pieces, you’ve found a solution

As a counterpoint, there is at least one instance where an operating, fully-depreciated, multi-000’s GPU cluster was decommissioned because it was decided the MWs could be better used by a newer accelerator. A sound decision given other constraints. But the general point is well-taken.

Grade A design shithousery from Disney (you can't see it, but the *required* email address box in the 2nd picture is disabled, so you literally can't start a chat about cancelling) 😂

Not proud to say it but.. yes? 🙂 At least they competed hard in the rugby. And almost came back to win it, so I understand the frustration if not the aggro. But that WC final performance? I don’t know wtf that was. They didn’t even earn the right to feel aggrieved 😂

In the last 48 hours I've watched *2* Argentine international teams 🏉 ⚽ get into post-whistle aggression. Coupled with all the shithousery (the Pumas wearing replica 1986 football World Cup kit? come on... 😆) it's gone too far.

I understand your point now. Yes, I agree. At the start of Clarke's 1961 book "Profiles of the Future", he describes 2 ways that technological prophets fail: Failure of Nerve and Failure of Imagination. There's been a lot of Failure of Nerve over the last ~6 years.

Your point is well taken but the bar for example 1 is, um, quite high? 😀 Did /anyone/ really expect few-shot learning? The GPT-3 paper is called "Language Models are Few-Shot Learners" (not, as many folks glommed on to: "We trained a honking great LLM") precisely because it was such a surprise!

Astro with the Starlight plugin? Push to a GH repo, and Cloudflare Pages automatically picks up the changes, builds + deploys. I use it for a private “library” of stuff that in Obsidian and it pushes on a regular schedule so the whole thing’s fire and forget

the data provenance and mix depends highly on the training stage / goals you have for your model. the OLMO 3 technical report is a great resource that goes into lots of detail: arxiv.org/pdf/2512.13961

I'm embarrassed to admit that when the original Xbox publishing deal and acquisition were being discussed, I was a naysayer. I remember thinking "everyone that's going to play Minecraft has played Minecraft". What a mistake that would have been! Luckily, Peter & Phil had better foresight... :)

an especially nasty surprise when you've used CC a bunch for coding and then claude.ai won't answer your general deep research questions. your context-switching is not Claude's context-switching! 😂 😭

I always regret not taking that train (or the one up to BC) when I was in Seattle. Sadly I don’t think it hugs the Pacific coast? Could have been one of the most beautiful train rides on the planet! (Eat your heart out, GWR past Teignmouth… 😀)

Can't shake the feeling there's an analogue here to the psychology of goal setting for humans (e.g. www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....) Process goals > performance goals > outcome goals (and a hard agree on the code smell of default assistant personas. Everyone loves emojis, right? ugh! 🙂)
