Phil Oakley @phil.ontheapex.com · 29/09/2026Fair. Not too many changes on the grid then for next year. 001
Phil Oakley @phil.ontheapex.com · 29/09/2026Camara at Haas seems likely - what about Racing Bulls? Lawson's stock seems to have risen a bit this year, especially with his decent stint at Red Bull. And Lindblad's done enough to get another year I think. But where does that leave Tsolov? Super Formula and F1 reserve? 140

Phil Oakley @phil.ontheapex.com · 20/09/2026@theracingline.app is great for this - schedules and timetables for well over 200 series, all converted to your timezone and with notifications when a race or session is due to start. It's great 002
Phil Oakley @phil.ontheapex.com · 19/09/2026I subscribed at like 23:57 yesterday... was I too late? 😆 100
Phil Oakley @phil.ontheapex.com · 16/09/2026Instead, we get a qualifying session that is almost exactly the same as GP qualifying, except slightly shorter sessions and mandated tyres. Do something different with it! Group qualifying, for example, like Indycar. Or head to head like Formula E. Or single shot/lap in reverse order. Sigh. 000
Phil Oakley @phil.ontheapex.com · 16/09/2026It does mean we get two Monaco qualifying sessions, which is a good thing. But this comes back to my overall feeling about Sprint qualifying. It's the perfect opportunity to experiment with the qualifying format, mix things up, try new things - without it impacting the Grand Prix. 100
Phil Oakley @phil.ontheapex.com · 16/09/2026So, the circuit where overtakes are incredibly hard to come by and changes of position are mostly down to strategy/pitstops. And F1 is introducing a shorter race at that circuit, removing those elements of uncertainty. Great job F1. 120
Reposted by Phil OakleyThe Pin is mightier than the sword @putdorianedown.bsky.social · 13/09/2026The ACO on the other hand will have to top last year's spurious 110,000 since this year genuinely had more in than last year (due to Saturday), so I'll guess they'll claim 125,000. 131
Reposted by Phil OakleyThe Pin is mightier than the sword @putdorianedown.bsky.social · 13/09/2026My guesses: Saturday is tricky because it filled up significantly as the day went on, but certainly at least 25k. Sunday felt busier than Saturday to me but that may have been because I was in queues for things. So let's say 30k. Friday I wasn't there but I'll round up and guess 60-70k weekend. 131
Reposted by Phil OakleyThe Pin is mightier than the sword @putdorianedown.bsky.social · 13/09/2026Question for people who were at Silverstone (though anyone else can play if they want), in two parts a) how many people do you think were there? b) how many people do you think the ACO will say were there? 341
Phil Oakley @phil.ontheapex.com · 13/09/2026Good to meet @putdorianedown.bsky.social, @justjoshingf1.bsky.social and @hazelsouthwell.bsky.social at Silverstone today! 241
Phil Oakley @phil.ontheapex.com · 13/09/2026Spent the afternoon at Silverstone for ELMS, but I see the Madring is another thing that can be added to the list of things which "Barcelona does better". 030
Phil Oakley @phil.ontheapex.com · 13/09/2026Will be at Copse shortly. Grey Manor F1 jacket from 2016, grello @theracingline.app hat, red rucksack 010
Phil Oakley @phil.ontheapex.com · 13/09/2026Will head around there, currently at Woodcote after parking at the Wing 010
Phil Oakley @phil.ontheapex.com · 13/09/2026@justjoshingf1.bsky.social @putdorianedown.bsky.social I am here and around if you wanted to meet up. Let me know! 120
Phil Oakley @phil.ontheapex.com · 12/09/2026Absolutely agreed. No overtaking spots and hard to know where they are in the lap. Luckily I'm going to Silverstone for ELMS tomorrow so can miss what I think will be a procession in Spain. 100
Phil Oakley @phil.ontheapex.com · 12/09/2026I think I'm going against the grain here, but I'm not really impressed by Madring. It's just another "street track" (although it's not really a street track, like Miami or Jeddah) with anonymous corners and close walls. Except it has a banked corner. Meh. 111
Phil Oakley @phil.ontheapex.com · 11/09/2026I'm hoping he gets another season in F2 now he knows the car/tyres/tracks. If so, it'll be sink or swim time for him. He can't afford a second bad season in F2. 110

Phil Oakley @phil.ontheapex.com · 05/09/2026Yeah split tickets can save quite a bit of money, which is good! It's a cool loophole in the system, haha. 100
Phil Oakley @phil.ontheapex.com · 04/09/2026Yeah my parents have that one I think. I made the price of my Railcard back in about 3 journeys to London! Well worth the cost. I'll get a Network Railcard but I can't use it at peak times, which is precisely when I need it most :( 100
Phil Oakley @phil.ontheapex.com · 04/09/2026😭 Luckily my new job doesn't require me to be in London/an office every week or even any time unless I'm specifically asked to come in for something, on an ad hoc basis. So I can save quite a bit of money each month. But still. Getting old. 32 tomorrow. Scary. 110
Phil Oakley @phil.ontheapex.com · 03/09/2026Inky doesn't understand why I can't pay him attention during work meetings. So just rolls around at my feet and is generally distracting. 030

Phil Oakley @phil.ontheapex.com · 25/08/2026Can you give me some examples? I'm morbidly fascinated by it. Are they useless now, but could be much improved in say a decade, or under? Or is it an inherent design flaw that they'll always be bad at combat? 100
Phil Oakley @phil.ontheapex.com · 25/08/2026Does this scare anyone else? It's very uncanny valley, but if this is used for military purposes... We're increasingly getting into the dystopian futures that were imagined in the 20th century and in modern video games set in the near future. It's strange to think we now live in "the future". 320
Phil Oakley @phil.ontheapex.com · 22/08/2026You know a race is boring when the commentators are talking about the history of the circuit in question. 020
Phil Oakley @phil.ontheapex.com · 16/08/2026@tomgaymor.bsky.social hi Tom - the Fox comms are a bit too quiet compared to the ambient noise. 010
Phil Oakley @phil.ontheapex.com · 15/08/2026Awful place. Everything is overpriced, it's ginormous, busy, no toilets, all the hallways etc look identical. Hate it. Then again that probably goes for most exhibition centres. 020

Phil Oakley @phil.ontheapex.com · 02/08/2026Fair. Agreed. They change their style every single album, which I love. Are you a fan of the heavier side of Muse? My music taste has got significantly heavier in the last decade, basically prog metal at this point. Probably why Absolution is my favourite Muse album. 110
Phil Oakley @phil.ontheapex.com · 02/08/2026Thoughts on the new album? Seen many saying it's as good as these. Personally I don't think it's quite there but it's not far off at all. 110

Phil Oakley @phil.ontheapex.com · 30/07/2026Brand new homologation iirc. Looks like a fairly conventional or standard LMH/LMDh car. Kinda a shame we're losing the most unique car on the grid. Suppose that title goes to the Valkyrie now. 020
