Everytime I do have to dig into AI for creative work, I come out the other side feeling exhausted, depressed and angry. Worse, I start doubting my own skillsets. Am *I* the bad designer because I can't bend the stupid robot to my will? Is this stuff beyond my skill level?

There are some places where it's been helpful. But almost none of them are in the creative department. It's been mostly productivity, workflow enablement, mini-apps (again, productivity). AI that enables brainwork, not AI that just generates stuff.

It is probabilistic, which is problematic for someone whose work often requires some level of determinism. It sends you down rabbit holes that 9 x out of 10, you didn't need to follow at all. It's slow. (1/?)

AI for creatives is having an unexpected but perhaps unsurprising effect on me. It's making me hate design. I get stuck in loops of frustration when it doesn't do what I instructed it to do. It provides speed in exchange for the designer acquiescing creative control. It is untrustworthy. (1/2)

Forced to find a workaround for getting media files onto my corporate laptop whilst on the road (no USBs allowed). The AI overview having a meltdown on my behalf is very empathetic of it.
