I'm probably just too cynical, but it's not obvious to me that AI orgs and AI startups with names like "Resolution" and "Adaption" provide the most accurate and unbiased forecasts about future AI capabilities. Grateful for @mehr.nz's voice in this article at least.

What is also fascinating in this story is that there seems to be a good chunk of American people who still believe in some kind of gentleman’s club notion of public civility. This has never been really true, but especially now have they looked at their country and their President ?

I am also wondering if ‘the algorithm’ will not keep us (culturally speaking) in the mid 2020s forever, both by killing artists and slowing down artistic innovations. This is a problem for all fields (eg if we do more and more Science with AI, we will get stuck with our period’s scientific methods)

There is also something about the pace, the balance of the sentences, etc… it is both perfect and repetitive. Like everything with genAI it is simultaneously mid and pleasant. It would be very interesting to see a stylistic latent representation.

Now, the ‘snoop and scoop’ already existed, just at a different scale. I am convinced that I was stolen a cool idea that I had put in a grant when I was applying for jobs (I cannot prove it but I have very very strong suspicions, and I guess it is easier to snoop and scoop trainees 😢 )
