Saw this on a different social media site and it’s absolutely perfect
Close up picture of a crocheted creation. It’s a miniature teal dumpster with grey wheels/legs. It’s anthropomorphised with small black eyes, a nose, and two arms. Coming out of the top are orange and yellow “flames”. The two arms are holding a small white sign . Written in black letters the sign reads: Emotional Support Dumpster Fire. It’s fine. I’m fine. Everything is fine!

The time has come to say Auf Wiedersehen. Tomorrow morning I will be on a plane with my family as we relocate to Newberg, Oregon, in the USA. The past four years have been a wonderful journey into DH. Thank you for teaching me, training me, nurturing me. Thank you for the friendships and mentorship along the way. I am grateful for you, and I will miss you. I wish you all the very, very best. And I hope our field only continues to grow. Until the next time, Auf Wiedersehen...

To my dear DH Community in Germany, an Abschiedsbrief.

And just like that, three of the hardest months of my life are over. Thesis = submitted. And there was much rejoicing...
Screenshot of the Title Page of a Master's Thesis.

Centered at the top of the page is the logo of the University. The leftside of the logo is a superimposed GA, in dark and light blue, respectively. Immediately to its right are two lines of text in dark blue. The top line reads Georg-August-Universitât. The Bottom line reads Göttingen. Offset to the right of the bottom line in smaller, light blue text reads: In Public Commoda Seit 1737.

Underneath this, centred on the page from top to bottom:

16 years ago… Who could have guessed the turns life would take? But if I had to do it all over again, I’d say “I do” in a heartbeat.
Bride and groom standing in the shadows with an illuminated stained glass window behind them. Both faces are in the shadow, but it's clear that both wear large smiles.

“For unto us a child a born…” Merry Christmas, Frohe Weihnachten, and Seasons Greetings.
And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

Luke 2:8-14

Post from a different era in your life
Young (late teen) white male with brown hair, wearing stone-washed jeans and a crimson short-sleeved t shirt. He’s looking towards the camera while straddling a dark green TVS XL moped. His right hand is holding the right handle; his left hand is casually draped across his lap. A black motorcycle helmet hangs on the left handle. It is parked in a driveway. Green trees overhang the driveway. A gate is in the background, through which you can see the street. There are green plants along the right side, in front of a dirty white wall. Photo was taken in Bangalore, India.

Mary consoles Eve. #Advent [credit: Sr. Grace Remington, Mary and Eve, crayon and pencil, 2005]
Illustrated artwork showing two women in a yellow oval frame surrounded by a decorative border of green foliage and yellow-orange pears. The woman on the left represents Eve. She has long flowing brown hair which covers her like a dress. A green serpent is coiled around her lower legs before slithering on the ground. Her face is looking down with a look of deep sadness. In her right hand she holds a red apple with a bite taken out of it. With her left hand, she reaches out, touching the pregnant stomach of the woman on the right. She wears a white Greek-style pleated dress with a long, blue head scarf. She represents Mary. She is holding Eve's and on her stomach, while tenderly touching Eve's face with a look of understand and hope in her own face. Her left heel is crushing the head of the serpent.

We’re a put-Christmas-decorations-up-the-weekend-after-Thanksgiving kind of family. My kids think it’s magical. Maybe they’re right.
View of a living room. Grey sofa with two white pillows is on the right side of the room, against the wall. On the left side of the room is a wicker basket full of wood, right next to a black wood burning oven. Just past the is a 6foot Christmas tree, decorated with white lights, silver tinsel, a silver star tree topper, and various ornaments. Behind the tree are two white bookshelves fully of book. On top of one bookshelf is a hand-carved Nativity scene from Angola. Next to the shelf on the right is a wood-and-glass door. To the right of the door is a white-with-glass-panes dish and glass cabinet. In front of this is a wicker chair with white pillow, and next to the chair is a large, green peace lily plant.

I love living in Germany. But sometimes (oftentimes?) the German language gets the better of me. Case in point? This sign. German is formal, reflexive: Fühlen sie sich sicher (“Feel you yourself safe”). English: Feel Safe.
Hygiene Service sign.

In German: Fühlen sie sich sicher.

In English: Feel Safe.

Visualizing the 'New Woman': Analyzing Visual Content in The Delineator Using CLIP.

Luana Moraes Costa
University of Göttingen, Germany

This study explores how the American magazine The Delineator reflects the evolving representation of the 'New Woman' from 1894 to 1914 through its visual content. By employing artificial intelligence techniques, particularly CLIP, the research shifts focus from text to visual analysis, revealing insights into societal perceptions of femininity.

Taking moment to publicly brag on my spouse. I am super proud of her for her many accomplishments, but today in particular as she receives a 2025 Manfred Lautenschlaeger Award for Theological Promise. fiit-heidelberg.de/en/lautensch...

The “Manfred Lautenschlaeger Award for Theological Promise” annually honors 10 young scholars from all over the world for outstanding dissertations or the first post-doctoral work in the thematic complex “God and Spirituality (broadly understood)”.

Winners of the Lautenschlaeger Award 2025

We are pleased to announce the 2025 winners of the Manfred Lautenschlaeger Award for Theological Promise.
