Interesting historical detail. Early Philistine art and architecture is very similar to greek and the Philistines were know as coming from Caphtor, or modern Crete. Around that time there was a long period of drought and famine leading to mass migration.

You should be asking why Rockstar gets to do this and doesn't run into any issues with payment processors, while the rest of anyone drawing or writing "explicit content" on any platform have so much trouble getting paid

Potentially this is something I could do in small increments. My concern is once I establish the new quality bar it will all need to shift. I think either way I may have to push it off indefinitely. I've been heavily working on system for a while now and need to get back to content.

The reason I hesitate is the risk of overscope. I'm weighing the value of making the something really cool that could get someone to play the game vs the potential additional work involved that could prevent it getting finished.

Beyond that, not ever bot will have every attack so it would be possible to skip some and make specialized versions for others. Dredger has an Harpoon attack, and a harpoon in their sprite for example. It feels like a big change but I'm really considering it.

Peter Conlin @peterconlin.bsky.social · 22h
To get that to work with the existing battle animations would mean making them all the same length per bot, mostly transitions and loops. The offset position would move from a lookup table to nodes in the sequence, making the. Simpler to manage.

Peter Conlin @peterconlin.bsky.social · 22h
I'm thinking I can leverage the tech I made for the attack animations to drive animations for the bots. Each sprite would be broken up into smaller parts so and moved individually. Adding additional frames for poses or angles would be a lot more dynamic than one frame pose for the whole sprite.

Peter Conlin @peterconlin.bsky.social · 22h
I'm considering if it's worth/how best to get more life into the battles. Having a single sprite for front and back view is retro but having the bots move, and strike, have idle loops and damage frames would really pop. #indiegame #BotHacker

Studio Aurum - MONSTER CROWN Sin Eater IS NOW OUT! @studioaurum.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
We've been cooking up a new concept, "Conservatory K: Kaiju Raising Project" Raise and evolve kaiju hatchlings into supernatural giants in a virtual-pet-style web, then unleash them to battle monsters threatening to destroy the ecosystem. What do you think? #ScreenshotSaturday
The image consists of two seperate screenshots. The top screenshot shows "The Pasture", which acts as a sort of main screen to the game. A cute, smaller monster called Barnacle can be seen on the right, including its stats.

The bottom screenshots shows a battle scene, Monster Rex Vs. Huang Long. Both monsters look like fearsome Kaiju, in contrast to the previous image.

The gameplay does get a little tired after a bit. I did really like throwing rockets back at enemies. Mostly I was there for vibes.

I really enjoyed the first Control but so much of that was because of the environment art. All the video I've seen of the new game makes it look like it's just an open world city, and it makes me far less interested.

This method feels a lot cleaner but from a branding standpoint it's a mistake. It's mildly upsetting to see how just making someone repeatedly hear or reach a name can worm it's way into your brain. Marketing am I right? anyways... BotHacker BotHacker BotHacker BotHacker BotHacker

I've been reworking the battle UI and noticed that if I remove ever instance of "Name used Attack!" and just attached an action tag, it no longer reinforces the names in my memory. It makes me wonder if that's why Pokemon players can remember so many of their favorites. #indiegame #gamedev

There are times I think I could have gone larger than 16x16 pixel tiles. I am not about to go back and change everything, but everytime I see a game that went larger I get a little wistful.

Grasshopper Figure carved hematite c. 1800-1700 BC Old Babylonian culture Babylon #handmade #carved #hematite #grasshopper #art #sculpture #ancientsculpture #ancientart #Babylonia #culture #Babylon #EuphratesRiver #nature #beauty #ancientBabylonia #fertility #omen #astrology #locusts #foodsource
In ancient Babylonia and the broader Mesopotamian culture, grasshoppers (and their swarming phase, locusts) held a multi-layered, dual meaning. They represented both a positive symbol of fertility and abundance and a destructive force of nature used in divination and dietary sustenance.
In their solitary, non-destructive form, grasshoppers were viewed by Babylonians as symbols of the natural cycle, fertility, and abundance. Because they appeared in large numbers during agricultural cycles, they were tied to the life-giving forces of the earth.
This famous example is a beautifully detailed, nearly 4,000-year-old Babylonian stone weight carved from hematite in the shape of a grasshopper (c. 1800–1700 BCE). Used in markets for fair trade transactions, the grasshopper shape on the weight likely invoked blessings of agricultural prosperity and nature.
When solitary grasshoppers crowded together and transformed into swarming locusts, their meaning shifted drastically. To the Babylonians, a locust swarm was a catastrophic event that could strip fields bare and cause widespread famine.
Babylonians were deeply invested in astrology and divination. Grasshopper and locust behavior was carefully documented in cuneiform omen series (such as the Šumma Ālu). A swarm of grasshoppers appearing in a specific city or flying in a particular direction was interpreted as a direct message or warning from the gods, usually predicting economic ruin, military invasion, or divine displeasure.
Despite the threat they posed to crops, grasshoppers were heavily utilized by Babylonians in daily practical life.
Babylonians actively harvested locusts and grasshoppers for food. Cuneiform records show that mass amounts of these insects were caught, preserved in brine, and transported over hundreds of kilometers to be eaten as a protein-rich delicacy or everyday staple.

Anyone who would chose not to view content based on a thumbnail like this is unlikely to consume the majority of content on the internet. It's better to be eye-catching and abrasive than be invisible and reach no one.

The thumbnail is fine. I'm an artist and I don't mind this at all. Thumbnails are meant to communicate boldly and succinctly. Youtube has a common language that everyone would recognize. It transfers well to other formats.
