These death masks of Isaac Newton, Oliver Cromwell and John Keats are doing my head in a little. It’s not like seeing a photo or a painting, there’s a real sense a physical person. They were hiding on a bottom shelf in the wonderfully eccentric Wisbech and Fenland Museum. Well worth a visit.

Delighted to be interviewed by and performing with pedal steel guitarist Joe Harvey-Whyte for his ambient show The Dream Stream on Soho Radio tonight at 10pm UK Time. Joe’s an incredible player, it was a joy. The show will be available online shortly afterwards, I’ll post a link. #ambient

This remix of Glacial Lake by @foveahex.bsky.social was released 10 years ago. I’ve only done a handful of remixes, but think this is my favourite. A profoundly moving song by a deeply original band. www.youtube.com/watch?v=7d7T...

And finally, a little bit of video I took at the beginning, with the sound of me saying “ooh that’s funny” removed. This is how it would have appeared to a deaf person…

Cabling has never been my strong suit. How I ended up looking after Brian Eno’s studio equipment remains a mystery.

IPlayer on an Apple TV. I’ve no idea if the issue was widespread or just on that platform. It doesn’t do it on playback sadly.

Running out of photos, but here’s Lauren Laverne’s intro. These may have been the correct subtitles, I’m not sure.

I did look on iPlayer to see if Mrs. Marple was also running with Pulp lyrics for subtitles instead, but sadly not.

The BBC are accidentally running the subtitles to Mrs Marple over the Mercury Prize, and it’s rather wonderful. A few of lines could plausibly have been written by Jarvis.

Quite! It was unexpected though, by me at least. I hadn’t thought beyond making an experimental music device, but we quickly started getting messages from carers of autistic children as well as dementia patients. And many, many parents getting children to sleep…

I’m a bit late stumbling across this post, but thank you! I’m wary of making any bold claims about Bloom, but we’ve had anecdotal reports of people with advanced dementia responding well to it. One non-verbal patient started happily singing along with it, which was very moving.

I had one of the weirder moments in a weird life last night when I realised that the Black Mirror episode Playthings was inspired by Creatures, a game I worked on in the 90s. Charlie Brooker reviewed it at the time, and apparently it stuck in his head.

Instead of Bandcamp Friday today, BC's% is going to WILDFIRE RELIEF, 👏. Meanwhile, our own % of Fovea Hex sales today will be going to GAZA via @unicefireland.bsky.social. From €5, collaborators/guests include Eno, Matmos, Abul Mogard, Peter Chilvers & more... bit.ly/3WT3tDX
SINGLES €5 each: 'WE DREAM ALL THE DARK AWAY', Abul Mogard's stunning remix of 'All Those Signs', our hymn to the hubris of climate denial; 'THE GLACIAL LAKE' (2 tracks): Peter Chilvers' delicate and beautiful remix of this song, as well as the original track; THE SLOW SLOW AIR, a fugue-like homage to the Irish slow air; HAIL HOPE(2 tracks): Hail Hope is a rousing anthem for anyone whose heart is sinking in darkening times, and Carol reframes darkness as "Mother of Light"; COCKLES AND MUSSELS is a beautiful deconstruction/reconstruction by Matmos, in tribute to Alan Turing, of the famous Irish song, sung by Clodagh. (Faced with imminent trial on charges of gross indecency, he insisted upon playing it on the violin for the police officers who came to his home to take his statement).
EPs/ALBUMS €7-€10 each: SALT GARDEN 1, 2, and 3 (4 tracks on each);
HERE IS WHERE WE USED TO SING (11 tracks); SALT GARDEN LANDSCAPED (2 x 20 min remixes by Steven Wilson of 2 tracksfrom the Salt Garden eps); NEITHER SPEAK NOR REMAIN SILENT (9 tracks);
