🚨The most important NASA graph in the world has another 6 months of data, and it looks even worse. 🚨 NASA CERES satellites measure how much sunlight Earth absorbs and how much heat is radiated back to space. The difference is heat accumulation, which has more than tripled over the past 26 years!

tl;dr: from a climate pov plant proteins are usually best. eggs, chicken and farmed fish come next; many protein sources have quite a wide range of variation in their emissions though, depending on how exactly they're produced.

Notable: In its 15th 5-Year Plan, China pledges for the first time to "constructively lead the multilateral governance process to address climate change,” so that its "influence, guiding capacity, shaping power and moral appeal in global climate governance will be significantly enhanced."
The language reflects a recent shift from China's previous positioning, when the nation - the world's largest source of greenhouse gas emissions - had described itself in official documents "as a participant, contributor and leader" in global
climate efforts.

A friend sent me this from near Bordeaux. The world will soon be united under a smoky sky.
A low-angle view looking up at a dark, orange sky thick with smoke from a wildfire, where a small, bright orange sun glows dimly near the center. Dense pine tree branches and needle clusters frame the right edge and top, while the roof and chimney of a house appear in the bottom left corner surrounded by foliage.

Here’s what the air conditioning discourse illuminates: to deal with climate change we need to electrify & we need zero carbon electricity, we also need more electricity- like double or triple what we have. And we need more cooling & cooling equity. There will be folks fighting against all of that.

The oil market seems determined NOT to price in realistic estimations of supply risk. At some point—IF things continue along the current trajectory—the unwarranted optimism will shift in the face of hard material facts. That shift could be sudden and have catastrophic economic consequences.
