Next up for Pink Opaque: our first ever headline slot 🤩 and it's free to get in! Sidney & Matilda, Sheffield Wednesday 7 October So excited to have the brilliant Ladies Nite coming over from Leeds for this as well as local hero My Lo-fi Heart 🩷🪩 Book at www.fatsoma.com/e/fnl3ronx/p...
Poster for the show with a photo of Danielle and Pete performing on stage, singing and playing synth. Both have one arm aloft, Danielle's right and Pete's left, so it's kind of symmetrically jubilant.

Why we don't stock certain books... An example is this book. The retail price is £22.00 but you can buy a copy in Tesco for £11. We can't blame you for doing that. The price to us from the publisher would be £12.10 as they discriminate against small shops on discount.

Travelling to London on Friday to play this @pinkopaque.co.uk show and coming back on a coach afterwards which arrives in Sheffield about 5am. Almost excited to see how broken I'll be the next day.

Football Action Network @footballactionnetwork.com · 21/09/2026
#FootballActionNetwork launches with almost 40 member organisations, coming together as a new force for positive change - in the game and across communities. Find out more at footballactionnetwork.com/news/a-new-f...
Quote from FAN's CEO, Kevin Wooldridge: "The Football Action Network provides a platform to connect people, share learning, and strengthen collaboration across the sector, because the challenges we face are bigger than any one organisation.

I've long believed that lasting impact is built through partnership. By bringing together those committed to using football as a force for good, the Football Action Network can help amplify what's working, inspire new ideas, and accelerate positive change across the game and the communities it serves."

Rebel Amulets: a free event at Shakespeares, Sheffield (146-148 Gibraltar Street, S3 8UB), this Saturday (19 September), with an excellent line-up including a set from @petegreensolo.com. Organised by Longbarrow co-founder Karl Hurst, so the set times are anyone's guess. It'll be good. All welcome.

It says something about capitalism that every government's response to a development that might wipe out humanity isn't "OK let's stop" but "we need to do this faster than everyone else"

Reading about the links between Futurism and fascism. A clear line joins those cranks with the fantasies of the AI bros a century later. The fetishisation of war, of the new, of 'progress' as an end in itself, rather than a means to better lives for people. The sociopathic indifference to suffering.

If you could expunge a single word from the English language, what would it be? The word 'politics' is a mechanism people use to transform other people and their concerns into a distant, abstract thing, packed into a box and pushed out of sight The world would be kinder without the word 'politics'
