“In London cyclists now outnumber cars in the City by 2 to 1. Paris, where they now outnumber motorists across the whole city, is catching up with Europe’s traditional bike capitals, Amsterdam & Copenhagen…In Copenhagen, bikes account for almost half of commuter trips to work/school.” @economist.com

West Meade is intentionally designed to make it difficult to drive through, because even car-brained suburbanites don't want other drivers speeding through their neighborhood.

If you ever wonder why you can't afford to buy a home in this town, this is why. Hundreds of obstructionist NIMBY nonsense stunts like this. Every project that can't fit more units because of litigation means fewer places for Nashvillians to live.

Joke's on him, I'm thinking how Sexton and his corrupt East Bank Authority are running an urban highway through the East Bank neighborhood before it is even built.

I do have some mild complaints about transit service to the Schermerhorn, tbh, it could be better. The 52 and 55 go right past Symphony Place, but I have to ride all the way to Central to make the transfer, or walk from 8th and Broad, which is rough in warm weather or for women in heels.

We deserve better service, but the improved frequency has definitely made it more useable. I came in early this morning and had only a 10 minute wait before catching the bus to work.

Very not cool. This intersections sees more people on foot or two wheels for parts of the day, and needs better protection. I have tried to get NDOT to change the signaling, but they refused. But joke's on them, I work at that corner and will not stop complaining about it.

This afternoon, I watched a crossing guard screaming at a Waymo to SLOW DOWN as it flew by her, seemingly oblivious to the school zone cones out despite its 27,000 surveillance cameras. Waymo sucks, man.

Kyle is wise, he recognizes that those bolted-down racks are far too flimsy to prevent a thief with a wrench, and knows they need to be embedded in concrete.

It is pretty wild that Nashville only has three non-interstate vehicle crossing points from Downtown to East Nashville. Part of the pain felt by the James Robertson closure is the fact that the city has historically not invested in better connections. www.newschannel5.com/news/newscha...

Seriously! I think that every time I go to a meeting there. Lots of low hanging bikeshare dock locations, if Metro were actually serious about active transportation.

I lived 4 blocks away from that intersection for years, but I always hated navigating it at night, especially since Metro allows parking in the bike lanes in the evenings. Recipe for disaster.

How fast can you bike through 5 gerrymandered congressional districts in Nashville? Apparently the answer is 43 minutes, if you are a middle-aged guy of mediocre fitness.🚲 This is less an athletic feat than an illustration of embrassingly corrupt politics. Shame on the Tennessee Legislature.

Rage 🧵: A few years ago, our neighbors complained to the city about the plant growth on a steep slope in our backyard. It’s so steep that lawn care companies told me they won’t mow it. The city didn’t care. They threatened us with thousands of dollars in fines. I ended up writing about it:
