Far more likely, it is scaring some potential partners away and, anyone who would be interested, is likely to make that a pretty sizable part of the negotiation. No one looking to make money from this team is going to be happy with the status quo. I don't like that, but it is true.

Depends. If you have the executive membership, I've found that like 10 minutes before it opens more broadly is ideal. But a lot of times just a couple minutes after open is best, because there are a bunch of folks champing at the bit right at the start. ymmv.

Game designer. I'll add, that creature thinks it hates friction and that creature is wrong. Easily achieved things don't end up meaning as much in retrospect to us, even if we predict they will. That creature is wrong, you like friction.

I love that book, but mostly because it's insane. And I can very much see why it didn't take off when he was alive, because it's one of the strangest books I've ever read that isn't in the realm of formal crazy of Joyce or Faulkner. Just a dude who loves talking about those giant fish. And bros.

I have been told that his team really does love working for him, which is, given all of that, fairly surprising to me. I'd assume he's working them to death and then some. So he's doing something right-ish? But also, taking longer, in 2026 means 100's of millions in overruns, it didn't use to.

There is a massive problem baked into these subscription service companies of how to attribute revenue to a given thing. It tends to play out in heads I win, tails you lose. Because how do you prove the value of your work if it is so disconnected from revenue? Gamepads has the same problem.

I think I've somewhat aged into wanting to have more hopeful things, but I agree times 1 million, that the state of the world has pushed me firmly into that camp at this point. It's still well crafted and interesting, but it's enervating to delve into that stuff these days.

I think it's still a non-starter. Look at how much effort has been put into the way pro/rel affects the business side in the Premiership and that's a league that already had it in place. There's not going to be a hunger from these owners to put their stake at risk if they don't have to.

Wonderful piece! I came to Avatar as an adult and then watched Korra as it was airing and Korra resonated much, much more with me. Especially the latter seasons. The complexity and psychological topics are more adult than Avatar, whether the execution is as good or not. Love them both, though.
