My friend, warning me about a new ensemble I’ll be playing with next week: yeah they tried to not pay me. Yeah the music director and concertmaster are married, but they keep threatening divorce. If they ask you to come to their house in New York, DON’T DO IT

NEW XIAO ZHAN EP Track 3 reminds me a not-insignificant amount of Kaikai Kitan and I love it It's partly the melody, partly the type of syncopated rhythms in the vocal line, and partly starting the vocals in this muffled processed way before switching to more natural-sounding vocals

My sweet spouse made this and asked me to share it. It feels weird to put it out there, knowing everyone is struggling as much as we are, but maybe this is what the universe has decided is the way to make it happen 🤷🏻 anyway gofund.me/1ae8a94ee

Yeah. Yeah. Writing Sonohara Anri absolutely prepared me for writing Fei Du (cw // child abuse, murder-suicide, dissociation)

Text:

The girl was terrified until she realized she was seeing the world through someone else’s eyes. That was why colors looked dull and sounds sounded brittle—it was because her whole consciousness was now contained inside another person’s head. She could feel the body attached to it, was aware of its limbs as they flailed against the tatami mat, but they were not her limbs. And the man who was holding this body down with a choking grip on its throat only looked like her father, but was not. The girl loved her father. He loved her. He would never.

It was almost like watching a movie on TV: she was engulfed in the story while seeing it very closely, as if through a pane of glass. Her not-father was obviously the villain, and villains were always defeated in the end, so she wasn’t surprised when he collapsed with a wheeze and a gush of blood. What did surprise her, though, was that the woman standing over the man’s body, sword in hand, looked like her mother. She wasn’t, of course; the girl’s mother was gentle and didn’t own a sword, and didn’t look at her with eyes that glowed a maniacal, adoring red.

“I love you,” her not-mother cooed in a voice that sounded fuzzy and grating when it reached the girl’s borrowed ears. “I love you so much.”

(continuation of previous picture):

The sword rose high; the girl couldn’t look away as the woman slit her own throat. The droplets of blood that splattered against her face and glasses were warm and wet like summer rain. Body and sword fell to the tatami mat with twin dull thuds, and the silence that followed was finally peaceful.

The wet sound of breath. A motorcycle grumbling, somewhere out on the street. A clock, ticking like a march. A faint, buzzing hum coming from—the sword?

Bare knees dragged across woven rush. The girl was crawling forward, the sword at the center of her vision, the hum growing louder, almost a voice now, worming through the body to the very core of her, and she watched the hand that was hers but also not reach out, seeking, and

touch
grasp (soft leather wrapping)
and then

I love you

I love you

I love you.

#

(To this day, Anri doesn’t know if her mother’s final words were her own, or Saika’s.)

once again i have been forced to recall this, including the details that 1) zxc TAKES HIS GLASSES OFF so he can better turn the full wattage of his entire being onto his co-star then 2) LETS HIS MOUTH FALL OPEN. is he trying to kill fxb or impregnate him, pretty sure everyone in the room fell gravid

Actually not sure. Maybe a bit of both? 20 y/o me hated orchestral playing, wanted to make a living off of chamber music, and was eternally frustrated by unrequited crushes. Now I’m an orchestral musician and have only had one very brief relationship, but I’m much more content with both of those…

Before my wedding gig last week, I stopped at an alpaca farm down the road and picked up some beautiful yarn, anyways now I have a new fun scarf (the pattern called it a shawl but I was using lighter weight yarn and slightly smaller needles, therefore scarf)

Blue, green, yellow, and orange variegated scarf with ridged sections and eyelet boarder, swaddled around my neck

Rereading some of mo du book 1 to remind myself of the early zhoudu dynamic, for fic purposes, and still losing it over lwz saying to tao ze, “If you were a woman, would you marry me or fei du?” And tao ze, who just really really loves women, going “Neither because I would be a lesbian”

So my sister *is* enjoying JitD but doesn’t feel like there’s anything remotely romantic about it, and I’m sitting here baffled because to me the chemistry is off the charts BL reallg just isn’t her genre huh She was like “give me to women” so I gotta get her some GL instead
