@keyofw.bsky.social Hi! In www.keyofw.com/baba-is-blog... and www.keyofw.com/baba-is-blog... , it looks like ABC 4 got an update and is now a different level titled Wall. If you're still updating these, you could change the description for Meta 14 so it doesn't say it's a repeat.

Thank you for linking to your article. I moderate a forum for supportive cis parents and one of them just asked if anyone had firsthand experience at an UK pediatric gender clinic, I sent it along.

I sent this email about it. Wish they'd make clear what the plan is, re. manufacturing Bigfeet if none are forthcoming
To whom it may concern,

I wanted to let you know that, because of Mount Sinai's recent settlement with the Department of Justice regarding the transition healthcare you used to provide for minors, I have cancelled my upcoming endoscopy and plan to seek care elsewhere for my (redacted)

Because of factors including:

1) the New York State Attorney General being firmly on the side of hospitals that choose to not divulge patient data to district courts in Texas, even under subpoena

2) recent circuit court rulings in favor of the hospitals

I believe this settlement was the wrong choice. Paying out on this settlement, and allocating funds for detransition services, sends a poor message to New Yorkers who care about trans youth. I'm not comfortable continuing to receive care within a hospital system that won't help minors transition, nor with knowing my insurance money will indirectly fund "detransition services".

I urge you to reconsider this choice. If it's truly impossible to change Mount Sinai's decision, consider publishing a statement about what these "services" will constitute. Bluntly, it would be desperately unethical to market detransition to trans minors who aren't wholly, independently resolved on detransitioning. If the money will just be tied up, available to medically facilitate the detransition of any detrans people who autonomously seek that path, that would be less repugnant.

Another good read is *The Other Olympians* by Michael Waters: describes the surprising history of a public furor about trans people in sports *at the time of* the Nazi rise to power. Trans/intersex men, in that instance. There was a lot I didn't know!

I'm glad I read the graphic novel memoir *Heavyweight* by Solomon Braeger, which is about this
Page from a graphic novel, text reads
(1)
S: "Did you know that between 1847 and the 1930s there were 400 human zoos in Germany? Oh man, and there was a human zoo at Coney Island in 1904..."
(2)
S: "Did you know the Nazis made it illegal for Jews to own pets?"
(3)
A: "What're you listening to?"
S: "It's a book called Hitler's Furies: German Women in the Nazi Killing Fields. Did you know Nazi women set up like, refreshments at mass shootings?"
(4)
A: "I was just thinking about how handsome you are."
S: "Who, me?"
(5)
S: "...Wanna know what was thinking about?"
A: "Was it Nazis?"

They're really not. Transition healthcare has become much, much harder for parents to access, for their minor children, since the election. Big hospitals have stopped providing the care & aren't making good referrals.

I get a lot of questions from parents & teens about where is still open for care. SUNY Downstate's clinic is my first rec, for people who live in the city or can travel here. It's an easy choice - they have the best ratio of care quality to waitlist length, that I know of, for NYC minors.

Gender-affirming care saves lives, respects the rights of patients, and reflects that healthcare is supposed to be between providers and patients, not between providers and the Trump Administration. (1/3)

Loved this bit from Against the Grain: A Carpentry Manual for Women by Dale McCormick so much that I typed it up and pinned it over my desk (h/t Michelle Millar Fisher on insta www.instagram.com/p/DM2S05bOKk...)
The minute I start swearing at the work I'm doing I know I've lost it. I just walk away and come back when I'm calmer. You can't think when you're furious and thinking and remembering are what is needed to solve the problem you're having. Patience and learning how to fix your mistakes are what it takes to be a good carpenter.

DON'T FIGHT YOUR WORK

If you find a job is frustratingly difficult and that you are fighting your work, then something is materially wrong. Do not berate yourself by saying such things as "I'm stupid, I'm weak" or "I can't do this." Those are thoughts that do not help solve the problem. The problem is not within you; it is somewhere in the work. Remain calm and begin analyzing the material aspects of the situation. Now evaluate and inspect the job again:

1. Is your body positioned to give the most leverage and strength? Reposition yourself and try again.
2. Are you using the right tool? Do you need another?
3. Is a screw or nail holding and you failed to notice?
4. Are you turning the nut in the right direction?
5. Are you using the right method?-- try another.

Do not get frustrated at yourself; look to your
method.

I do love being a parent, but also, I think I'm chronically slower, dumber, and less empathetic than I used to be because my kids infodump all the time. (and every once in a while, 8yo asks me things like this and she's pleased when I call out the fiction / gets offended if I play along @_@)
