World of Relics Worldbuilding: Gwuenevere and Maiden Mother Crone thoughts So, one of the things I like doing when I write or draw my characters is that I like listening to my favorite songs. I like listening to songs that fit the characters or their stories thematically. Recently, I finally g[...]

Illustration of Gwuenevere, a living cloak, wielding a crystal sword and a magic shield. She seems to be soaring, with the bottom hemming of her fabric core spread out.

Illustration of Luther, a living broadsword, holding hands with Gwuenevere, a living cloak. Luther appears a royal Blade, draped in a cape, gauntlet, and gold decoration. Gwuenevere appears as a cloak from a lower status, with tearing upon her fabric core.

An illustration of Lord Reynold, a living rapier, dressed in golden decoration, twisted reign-guard, and a colorful cape.
Caption reads:
Lord Reynold of Erdestra's Northern Borders
An esteemed aristocrat and patron of the arts.
Especially of architectural pursuits for castles, material storage, and refineries.

What's frustrating is that, because of YouTube's ridiculously strict yet inconsistent rules, you can't get animated media that actually IS aimed at kids or contain graphic content (i.e., sex scenes, extreme violence, etc.). I'd kill to get more indie cartoons that just embrace being transgressive.

We can go back and forth all day about the age range for TADC's target audience by at the core of it, it dont matter. If youre a creator, think about how exactly to distribute your work so its not solely dependent on YouTube who can just SHUT OFF your money for any reason it wants. Diversify.

Gonna keep banging this drum but Indie Animation CANNOT survive on YouTube, the platform that can WITHOUT NOTICE change its algorithm or or deny you the audience you need to make your show sustainable.

Instead of watching anything related to the terf supreme series, watch the Witch Hat Atelier anime streaming in 2 weeks for a well thought out magic education universe with complex characters and an author who continues to support LGBT causes. Better yet read the manga for the most stunning art

Artists, never forget that you are not a brand. You do not need to be consistent and marketable. If you CHOOSE to strive for these things that’s fine, but you do not NEED them. You are a fucking person, multi-faceted and complex. People who do not respect that see your art as a product

Here are 543 images (1.5GB) of items at the Philadelphia Museum of Art arms and armor exhibit You're free to use them for anything, even commercially. I tried to focus on details not usually represented in available reference material drive.google.com/file/d/1NRzg... Here's a small sampling:

A closeup view of an ornate cuirass and tasset, showing heart-shaped designs along the edges of the metal panels.

An extremely ornate ceremonial halberd head showing etched and blackened designs with various plants, mythical creatures, and heraldic designs.

A closeup of the shoulder intersection of the cuirass, pauldron, and bevor of a piece of 1500s field armor. Some ornate etching of the crucifixion is visible in the lower right corner on the cuirass.

Illustration of Nikey, a red-winged Black goddess based on the Greek Goddess Nike, standing in the shadow of a temple. She looks mournfully into her reflection on the temple walls, with one hand on its surface touching her reflection's hand. In her hands is a trident with its wooden pole wrapped in red cloth. Nikey is dressed in armor, with a red scarf and brown loin covering. Behind her is a open bright area, another temple with other winged gods flying about.

Illustration character sheet showing Eightenate, a living rock with arms, in various poses. Each pose shows her character, one where she is sneaking, one where she is toasting with a cup, one where she is on a large tree branch, one where she sleeping beside Gwenny, a living dress, and one where she is attacking. Eightenate is wearing a purple cape and carries a sword.

Illustration of my character Menathrenna, a living cloak with a Pride Flag 1978. Around her are the sun and the moon, clouds and sky, all framed in a gold and brown frame.

A render of my character, Clara the Spoon Ballerina, as a 3D model. She is a spoon wearing a light blue dress, with pink hair, tie, and cape, and gold tiara, loop, and arms.
