Gotta love it when a month of on & off debugging comes down to a dodgy 5 volt regulator browning out when the indicator LED's get too bright.

On further investigation, I saw logs confirming they were both shutdown, but the script controlling them turned them right back on when grid voltage returned even while still on inverter power. Added a 10 minute delay between grid voltage normal and turning them back on again. That should do it.

I was able to see from power draw that neither tub nor EVSE was drawing while on inverter. The car's long since charged to 80% by this time of day, so I wouldn't have expected any draw there either way. It wasn't a time of day the tub would typically be active either, so inconclusive.
100
Pendorbound @pendorbound.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
Bad news, I didn't capture enough event logging from the EVSE or hot tub controller to see if the EVSE got a shutdown command or the hot tub contactor opened. I CAN see the tub power profile now matches its "just powered up" startup cycle though, so it's probably fine.

Pendorbound @pendorbound.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
From the total runtime on inverter (just over 5 minutes) versus the grid voltage, I can see the grid contactor opened and the Sol-Ark was fully grid forming with no islanding for the required 5 minutes before syncing to grid & reintegrating. Return was seamless, no blip.
100
Pendorbound @pendorbound.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
Good news, just barely a blip, and everything stayed on. Still need separate UPS's on computer stuff, but other than the fan in the bedroom bogging down for a second or two, everything kept going. Also nice that it happened only 5 or so minutes before I needed to drag my butt out of bed anyways.

Pendorbound @pendorbound.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
Sampling interval is 10 seconds, and AC output power sagged to 216v for a one interval before returning to 240v. Grid dropped to 132v in that time, so looks like we lost one leg more or less. Grid returned to 240v within 3 samples.

Pendorbound @pendorbound.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
Based on the momentary power blip and the MANY sirens that followed about 10 minute later, it seems like some unfortunate may have helped me finally test the Sol-Ark in a power out scenario.

The >50 years and older-than-me points will have to wait until this weekend. My original large Advent’s aren’t blown, but figured I might as well get the kit for them from the same shop and save on shipping. $24 seems like a good investment.

It’s been an embarrassingly long time since V2.2212 actually spat plastic. Only one toolhead working presently, but all six are configured in Klipper and technically functional. So much more calibration to do for docking / undocking, etc.

So far it looks like ~35ºC drop under load versus naturally aspirated. Also both cards are within a degree or two of each other rather than ~10 apart sometimes, no doubt due to one of the three fans failing on the "newer" used card. 50º at 300 watts dissipation (each) is a lot better that 85+.

This is new territory… You’re welcome to come at me about that waterslide between the two 3090’s, but it won’t amount to anything. Function and using available fittings beat form. No results yet, just letting the pump run for a day or so to rule out leaks.

Before & after. Basement stairs are much lies likely to kill, even if they look like a murder scene. Alas, yellow/black caution stripes don’t come in a rattle can, and my paint skills are meager. Thanks to @inquisitiveelle.bsky.social for the disassembly and clean out service.
Looking down at a set of cinder block stairs in a basement Bilco entry way, crumbling, uneven, poorly built, covered in dirt and mud from water seepage. Rebuilt stairs in the same basement entry way, now made of pressure treated lumber. The stairs are even, sturdy, and run the full width of the entry way. The concrete of the walls and floor is gleaming white from a fresh coat of Drylok. A concrete berm to redirect runoff water to the floor drain is painted bright (blood) red.

Fortunately on my four boards, it only pushed the parts aside (didn't make them fall off and get lost), and the solder pads were unharmed. Definitely the smallest surface mount rework I've done to date.

Pendorbound @pendorbound.bsky.social · 05/05/2026
Bonus (?) when I get to / have to do the same repair to four different parts. BigTreeTech put a couple of surface mount components *really* cozy with the mounting screw location on the EBB36 boards. If your stand-offs are just a little bit bigger than the screw pad, *CRONCH*...
