We enjoyed returning to metapizzapdx.com, which serves up hand-tossed pizzas in Brooklyn, #PDX inspired by family pizzerias in Brooklyn, NY. They have two #vegan pizzas on the menu that feature delicious combinations of thoughtfully chosen and prepared veggies. 📸: The Pesto Vegan
On the top is The Pesto Vegan, whole pie on the left and slice on the right.  It consisted of rich and deeply flavorful vegan pesto, roasted garlic, zucchini, sweet onion, marinated tomatoes, and broccoli raab, plus mushrooms and vegan cheese on a satisfyingly chewy crust with crisp edges. The bottom left is the Asian Pear Salad (vegan version), which consisted of baby arugula, local Asian pears, bell pepper slices, and balsamic dressing. The top left is the Italian Wedding Soup, which consisted of garbanzo bean and tofu meatballs, quinoa and rice pasta, carrots, and kale.

The bottom left is a Pecan Pie Bar that was delightfully gooey and decadently delicious.

We enjoyed returning to thunderbirdbarpdx.com in the Foster-Powell neighborhood of SE #PDX, for more of their crave-worthy #vegan comfort food options. These show we can be being kinder to ourselves, the other animals, and our 🌎, and still enjoy delicious and satisfying food.
The top left is the Scoot Scoot sandwich. It had crispy, meaty vegan chicken, smoky, thick-cut, crispy pig-free Thrilling Foods Bakon™, avocado, onion, tomato, lettuce, and miso mayo. 

The top right is a side of sweet potato fries. 

The bottom left is the Harvest Moon Salad, which consisted of spring mix, sweet potato, butternut squash, parsnips, cucumbers, red onion, dried cranberries, beets, and sweet and tangy agave mustard vinaigrette.

The bottom shows the outside of Thunderbird Bar on SE Foster. There is now a second location on N Mississippi.

100% #vegan www.yuansuvegetarianor.com in #PDX offers a wide selection of delicious Chinese dishes. There are fried rice and noodle dishes, dinner combinations, clay pots and sizzling platters, and more. The portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable.
The top left is Veggie Seafood Tofu in Hot Pot, which consisted of tofu, plant-based shrimp and octopus, red bell peppers, mushrooms, celery, snow peas, baby corn, carrots, and water chestnuts in a savory sauce. 

The top right is the outside of Yuan Su Vegetarian, which is painted red. 

The bottom left age shows part of the spacious dining area. There are white tablecloths. 

The bottom right is the Hot & Sour Soup, which consisted of tofu, bamboo shoots, wood ear and enoki mushrooms, and carrots, with the wonderfully distinctive thick, glossy, and vinegary broth that this soup is famous for.

We were delighted to return to www.asterapdx.com for another amazing dining experience. The expansive tasting menu showcases produce from local farmers, their weekly foraging haul, and their garden. They take all this and come up with ingenious works of culinary art.

We are so lucky in #PDX to have 100% #vegan lillapdx.com, which serves up delicious Italian food including pasta, pizza, and more. Their veganized versions of traditional Italian dishes are both elegant and comforting, keeping all the flavor and satisfaction while leaving #animals off our plates.

It is always such a joy to return to 100% #vegan norahpdx.com in #PDX for more of their innovative and crave-worthy pan-Asian cuisine. Everything is so full of vibrant and intensely satisfying flavors. There are lots of gluten-free options. 📸: Vegan Bibimbap, Sichuan Long Beans
The top left is the Vegan Bibimbap, which consisted of seasoned soy curls, spinach, sesame bean sprouts, kimchi, crispy chickpeas, sweet and tangy house pickled cabbage and jalapeños, seaweed, sweet, spicy, and tangy gochujang sauce, and jasmine rice, plus crunchy umami-rich tempeh.  This had a crave-worthy variety of flavors and textures.

We always enjoy going to Stretch the Noodle, a food cart in downtown #PDX that serves fabulous Chinese-style hand-stretched noodles. The crave-worthy #vegan option that we’ve enjoyed multiple times, Chao Mian with Tofu, is incredible, with a very generous portion size at a remarkably low price.
On the left is the Chao Mian with Tofu. On the right some of the noodles have been pulled up with chopsticks. It consists of delightfully firm and chewy hand-stretched noodles with stir-fried tofu, spinach, mushrooms, onions, matchstick carrots, and bean sprouts.

We are always delighted by what we find at queer and POC-organized Flip Side #Vegan Market #PDX. Yesterday’s Rewind to the 90’s market was amazing. 30+ talented and creative vendors showed convincingly that being vegan is not about deprivation.

We enjoyed returning to all-vegetarian #vegan-friendly Skidbladnir, which serves up delicious Midwest 90’s-inspired comfort food at Hawthorne Asylum Food Carts in #PDX. 📸: Rachel, Loaded Jojos
The top left is the Rachel, which consisted of meaty smoked house-made seitan, creamy coleslaw, vegan mayo, and melty vegan cheese. Inspired by a song about two lovers, Reuben and Rachel, who should always be together, this was as crave-worthy as the Reuben, which we enjoyed on our previous visit. 

The top right is the Skidbladnir food cart, located in Hawthorne Asylum Food Carts.

The bottom left is some of the outdoor covered seating at Hawthorne Asylum Food Carts.

The bottom right is the Loaded Jojos, which consisted of crispy fried potato wedges with house vegan cheese sauce, pickled peppers, greens, cauliflower, vegan bacon bits, and mean green sauce plus more of that crave-worthy smoked house-made seitan. This was decadently delicious and very generously sized.

The #vegan options at theturningpeel.com in #PDX are amazing. The uniquely delicious thin crust of their sourdough Neapolitan pizzas is wonderfully chewy, with a bubbly, airy rim, and a pleasant amount of char. 📸: The Hawaiian (Vegan Version of Weekly Special)
This is the vegan version of The Hawaiian pizza, a weekly special. It consisted of a bright Alta Cucina tomato base, fresh ripe sliced pineapples, meaty, seasoned house-made vegan ham, and luscious creamy house-made tofu and cashew-based ricotta. Finished with vegan parmesan and extra virgin olive oil.

We were delighted by our meal from vegan-friendly family-owned taptapcuisine.com in #PDX, which serves up Haitian and Caribbean cuisine with some fabulous #vegan options that are bold and richly flavorful. 📸: Vegan Options of TapTap Cup Bannann Peze and Diri Djondjon + Legume

Served with legume, a rich, creamy, savory, hearty, slow-cooked vegetable stew made with eggplant, cabbage, and carrots, flavored with Haitian Creole seasonings known as epis.

100% #vegan Van Hanh Restaurant in #PDX (veganpdx.us) offers a wide variety of delicious Vietnamese dishes. The portions are generous, and the prices are remarkably low. 📸: Curry Soup, Egg Rolls, Potstickers
The top left is the Curry Soup, which consisted of pig-free ham, tofu, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, potatoes, taro, and celery. The rich and creamy broth was hearty, comforting, and satisfying, both savory and sweet, with a lively amount of fire.  

The top right is the Egg Rolls, which were filled with carrot, tofu, taro, veggies, and beans. Served with a sweet and tangy chili sauce.  Crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside, these were delightful. 

The bottom left is the Potstickers, which filled with a delicious variety of juicy minced veggies including carrot, corn, and broccoli that contrasted nicely with the crispy shells.  Served with a flavorful savory and sweet sesame sauce.

We were very pleased by our meal from Taste of Casablanca, a vegan-friendly food cart in Piknik Park in #PDX that serves up Moroccan cuisine including gyros, wraps, salads, and plates. The #vegan options are delicious and satisfying, the portions are generous, and the prices are remarkably low.
On the left is the vegan version of the Falafel Salad, which consisted of three hearty Moroccan spiced falafel that were crispy outside with a fine and crumbly interior, creamy house-made hummus, one piece of luscious stuffed grape leaves, carrot salad, beet salad, green olives, fresh tomato, cucumber, red onions, pickles, mixed green salad, and spinach.

On the right is the vegan version of the Casablanca Falafel Wrap, which consisted of Moroccan spiced falafel, Moroccan basmati rice, mixed greens, spinach, carrot salad, beet salad, and house-made hummus in a flour tortilla.  

Both were veganized by skipping the feta cheese and replacing the onion sauce with extra hummus:

The top shows the Buffalo Hot Wing Sub, which consisted of tender, meaty, and buttery soy curls tossed in house-made Fresno chili hot sauce on shredded lettuce with carrot and celery slaw, tomatoes, red onion, and bold, sharp, and tangy 🌱-based blue cheese, which is what we had, or equally delicious ranch, all on a spicy mayo dressed French roll. On the left is the whole sub and, on the right, it has been cut in half. The bottom left is the Arugula Bacon Date Salad, which consisted of arugula with crispy smoky chopped pig-free bacon, dates, red onion, and toasted Oregon pumpkin seeds with house-made sweet and tangy bee-free honey mustard dressing. kabob.org is a Palestinian family-owned and operated restaurant in #PDX that has great #vegan options. The food is flavorful and satisfying, the portions are generous, the prices are remarkably low, and almost everything is gluten-free. 📸: Falafel Muthawama, Falafel Muthawama

It is always a pleasure to go to 100% #vegan cozogrillpdx.com, a food cart in #PDX that serves delicious and satisfying burgers and more. Their comfort food demonstrates convincingly that you don’t have to sacrifice great taste while being kinder to yourself, the other animals, and our 🌎.
The top left is the Sizzlin Burger, which consists of a delicious, savory, seasoned, hearty, and nourishing patty made in-house with black beans, wild rice, and corn, lettuce, tomato, onions, melty plant-based cheddar cheese, sautéed mushrooms, pickled jalapeños, and garlic aioli on a fluffy pretzel bun. The house-made patty is fantastic, but you can also choose a Beyond patty. 

The top right is a close-up of the Sizzlin Burger.

The bottom left is the Cozo Salad, which consists of mixed greens, diced tomato, sliced carrots and daikon, and sunflower seeds. Served with rich, creamy, and piquant plant-based blue cheese dressing.  Ranch, Italian, and gold planet dressings are also available.

A great way to celebrate this Labor Day in #PDX would be to enjoy some delicious vegan food from 100% #vegan and BIPOC worker-owned @mirisata.bsky.social. Their uniquely delicious and award-winning Sri Lankan cuisine continues to delight us. 📸: Lankan-Chinese Deviled Pork, Deviled Wings Roast Paan
The top left is the Lankan-Chinese Deviled Pork, which consisted of crispy, meaty breaded and fried pig-free soy curls in a tomato-based deviled stir-fry sauce with ginger, garlic, lemongrass, red onions, tomatoes, and banana peppers.  This was intensely flavorful and very satisfying. Five spice levels are available. We had level three, which had a lively and satisfying amount of fire. The top right is the Deviled Wings, six meaty chicken-free plant-based wings with sugar cane "bones" that had the same taste and texture as the bird-derived version coated in their crave-worthy deviled sauce. Served with zippy and creamy curry leaf ranch and carrots sticks. The bottom left is the Roast Paan, a very generously sized piece of leavened coconut bread, twice cooked so it was crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. The bottom right is the inside dining room of Mirisata.

It is always a joy go to 🌱-based, macabre, mystical 100% #vegan mementomoricafe.com in #PDX. Their one-of-a-kind deliciousness and joyfully fun and spooky vibe show that you don’t have to sacrifice great taste and fun while being kinder to yourself, the other animals, and our 🌎.
The top left is the Angel of Death, which consisted of fluffy chicken-free egg, savory, meaty pig-free ham, and luscious cow’s milk-free garlic butter. The top right is Wednesday, which consisted of sourdough mourning toast topped with luscious scream cheeze and lightly sweet, earthy black sesame tahini swirled like a spider web. In the middle is Calabeza con Leche.  Translating as pumpkin with milk, this pumpkin horchata latte was inspired by a traditional Mexican dessert and was sweet, creamy, and richly flavorful. It’s available warm or iced. The bottom left is a Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Skull Cake. This moist, rich, and fluffy pumpkin skull cake with chocolate chips and chocolate glaze was irresistible. The bottom right is an Apple Pie Scone that was lightly sweet, crumbly, buttery, and flaky with apple glaze.

We were excited to visit worker-owned, family-friendly, and queer-run jaderabbitpdx.com at their new home on SE Hawthorne in #PDX. Their space is beautiful and welcoming, and the 100% #vegan food, which includes dim sum, rice bowls, and noodle dishes and soups, continues to be crave-worthy.

The top left is the Un-Beetable Cheezeburger, which consists of a hearty, flavorful, and satisfying house-made beet-lentil-walnut patty, garlic aioli, seasonal greens, lively chimichurri, tangy, sweet, and sour house pickles, fried shallots, and thick and creamy house-made cashew mozzarella. Served on a grilled bun. The top right is the Unagi Norrito. We are always delighted by the delicious Indian cuisine served up by maruti-restaurant.com, an all-vegetarian family-owned restaurant in #PDX with many #vegan and #gluten-free options. The produce is organic and locally sourced, and the dishes are both authentic and contemporary.
The top left is the Pani Puri, a vibrantly flavorful and fun appetizer has 6 puri (small, round, hollow, crispy shells) that you crack open with the back of your spoon and fill with mashed potatoes and garbanzo beans mixed with Indian spices and then top with pani (mint water mixed with tamarind-date chutney). Japanese-inspired, #PDX-evolved bakaumai.com has some delicious #vegan options for a wide variety of ramen, both traditional and innovative, as well as small plates and bowls. Baka umai is Japanese slang for stupid delicious, and based on the multidimensional flavors, that’s an apt description.
The top left is the Vegan Mazemen, which consisted of broth-less ramen made with thick and chewy whole wheat noodles tossed in intensely flavorful double-smoked tomato paste and truffle oil. Topped with fried tofu, chopped red and orange bell peppers, sweet and tangy pickled cucumber and shiitake mushrooms, and cilantro. The top right says baka umai, Japanese slang, Stupid delicious. The bottom left is the Bento Bowl (vegan version), which consisted of crispy fried tofu, green onions, fresh cabbage, and a pickled veggie medley including shiitake mushrooms, cucumber, daikon, and onion, over a bed of rice. This is a Build Your Own Vegan Pie. They have so many delicious vegan toppings for this. We chose their deeply flavorful house-made pesto base, luscious tofu-cashew mozzarella, creamy fluffy almond ricotta, roasted cremini mushrooms, hot and sweet Mama Lil’s peppers, toasted walnuts, and fresh basil on a pleasantly chewy crust with just the right amount of char.

Alexandria Mediterranean Grill, a food cart in #PDX, serves up Egyptian cuisine with fantastic #vegan options. Owner and Founder Amrou Zalabany, who emigrated from Alexandria, Egypt invites us to “eat like an Egyptian”. The portions are generous, and the prices are remarkably low.
The top left is the Alexandria Vegan Bowl, which consisted of rich, smooth, and creamy hummus, two savory, herby falafels, tender, melt-in-your-mouth seasoned and fried eggplant, grilled veggies including zucchini, red and green bell peppers, and onions, sweet and tangy pickled red onions, two tender, savory dolmas, and refreshing sumac tomato salad on top of basmati rice. Finished with tahini and pomegranate molasses. Served with warm pita. The top right is Owner and Founder Amrou Zalabany. Yesterday’s August for the Animals Flip Side #Vegan Market #PDX was amazing. 30+ talented and creative vendors showed convincingly that being vegan is not about deprivation. They also had amazing animal sanctuaries, rescues, shelters, and resources there.

We had a delicious dinner at thehappyelephantmanzanita.com in #Manzanita, which has plenty of #vegan options for Thai food and a limited selection of vegan sushi options. We had spent the day at Cannon Beach and if you have recommendations for vegan options there, please let us know.

With sweet and fiery Southern flavors and a crunchy bite, this was amazing.

We enjoyed our first lunch from Office Lunch, a 100% #vegan collaboration between Exquisite Creatures and Verdure that also offers Last Batch cookies. They are open Thurs & Fri 11 AM – 2 PM in Olympic Mills Commerce Center in SE #PDX.
The top left is the Water Cooler Reuben, which consisted of kohlrabi, red and golden beets, sauerkraut, Field Roast Chao cheese, and Russian gochujang dressing on rye. The top right is the Smash The Keyboard Eggplant Parm. We’re not sure we’ve got this right, but in addition to breaded eggplant that was crispy outside and tender inside, we think this had coconut-cashew mozzarella, vegan parmesan, and a lively tomato-based sauce on airy and pleasantly chewy focaccia. The bottom left is a Miso Chocolate Chip Cookie that was made by Last Batch. It was soft and chewy with a depth of flavor from the miso, packed with chips, and generously sized. The bottom right is a view of the inside of Olympic Mills Commerce Center.

Meals from 100% #vegan @mistaconespdx.bsky.social in #PDX are fabulous. Polo and Carlos serve up crave-worthy street food-style dishes from L.A. and Baja California and a celebration of their roots: Queer, Chicanx, Mexican, family, culture, and community. They provide meals to marginalized people.

We always enjoy our meals from darsalamrestaurant.com, the first Iraqi restaurant in #PDX. DarSalam means "House of Peace" in Arabic and that's what owner Ghaith Sahib wants you to feel. He enjoys sharing his culture with the community through delicious food. There are great #vegan options.
