The goal of these ICE protests is to slow down the monster and, ultimately, to kill it. There is no negotiation. There are no demands. Cease, or die.

Absolute fucking 🔥. "Over eight hours...people throwing back tear gas...throwing anything that they could to defend themselves...Border Patrol retreated. “And the hundreds of workers in the factories were able to escape. If any community was going to fight back without apology, it was this one."

Removing pepperball residue from clothing and other items. This is based on my (unfortunately extensive) personal experience and experimentiation. Pepperballs contain powdered PAVA, an oily, synthetic capsaicin analog. The only reliable way to remove it is with a good surfactant soap and water. 1/

during severe weather it’s essential that we look out for and care for our neighbors, especially our unhoused neighbors. stop to check in w people and see if they need anything. carry things like hand warmers, emergency blankets, cash with you. write down emergency shelters/resources on notecards.

community support and solidarity is more important than ever, and it can feel overwhelming to know what to do. don’t let it immobilize you. there are essential things each of us can do that can have tangible impacts and are valuable no matter the scope.

The threat of ICE has tons of people on high alert, the result is claims of ICE seen without firm or specific info people can actually use — & sometimes, no ICE at all. It’s never “ICE spotted in Queens,” but “4 SUVs labeled DHS seen parked on 57th & 59th in Maspeth at 2:34pm.” Be specific!
Spread Information not panic
When reporting or signal boosting potential threats: provide as much information as possible!

Ok so lots of people want to know how to help immigrants right now, which is great! Here is a brief thread about what I learned from @ufw.bsky.social folks while hanging out with them. They also hold training so if they're in your area, look em up and ask if you can attend!

Some things you can do to support someone incarcerated. This info was gathered from attending a Rattling the Cages video conference and is in no way exhaustive. Rattling the Cages is great and we recommend checking them out, as well as seeking out and supporting your local prisoner support projects!

If someone you know has been arrested, there ARE things you can do to help. Outside support can make all the difference during someone’s time behind bars.

When exchanging your @signal.org contact info over an insecure channel (like a text message or DM), it's a good idea to generate a Signal link (URL) from the app, then you should RESET that link after you connect with the other person on Signal. Thanks to @micahflee.com for reporting.

It’s going to be chilly this week with warming daytime temperatures! Remember to wear layers when going outdoors. Visit multco.us/cold for safety tips and an interactive map of warm spaces.
An infographic from Multnomah County titled ‘Stay warm. Stay dry. Stay safe.’ It lists warning signs of dropping body temperature for adults and infants. For adults, the signs include shivering, extreme tiredness, confusion, fumbling hands, and slurred speech. For infants, the signs are being cold to the touch and too tired to eat. The graphic shows a blue figure wearing an orange hat and shivering. Snowflakes are depicted around the figure. The URL multco.us/cold is displayed at the bottom right.

this is about protests, but i’m going to use it to talk about protecting people from ICE. join a group, get alerts, show up, and literally get in the way. it’s not as scary as it sounds, and ICE raids are only going to increase, so better get a feel for how these actions work sooner than later.
