For the record: Lee is a resident of Falling Shoals, an upper middle-class community outside of Athens proper. He's never been to our public library, but he seems to think that homeless people are charging their phones in the children's section of our library. The charging station is upstairs.

Falling Shoals is a single-family home community in Athens, Georgia, built between 2004 and 2016. It currently has no homes for sale. The homes range in size from 1,601 ft2 to 4,660 ft2. The HOA fees range from $79 to $164 per month. The average annual property tax for Falling Shoals is $6,137. It is located in Clarke County.

Falling Shoals is located west of Whit Davis Road off of Falling Shoals Drive.

It is reality, no negativity. Most of these places are full or overflowing. I work hard everyday looking for help for my clients, but the money just isn't there for these organizations. As soon as help opens up, it closes.

It is genuinely fair to say that the owner of Mama Sid's does not want to encourage business from people in town who are not from here.

'Everybody is quite concerned because we have discovered that our local government is not transparent with us. They have resolutions and agreements going that the public had no idea about,' Waters said.

'I don't really know how familiar our commission was with the 2019 resolution that opened up a lot of sanctuary. We're not a sanctuary city, but we have sanctuary policies that somewhat control us.'

Waters is referring to the resolution signed in 2019 by Athens-Clarke County Mayor Kelly Girtz and Clerk of Commission Jean Spratlin.

The resolution says the local government 'is welcoming to people from all lands and backgrounds and strives to foster a community where individuals and families of all statuses feel safe, are able to prosper and can breathe free.'

It also states: 'our immigrant and undocumented neighbors, especially those of Latinx heritage, face daily fears and threats from individuals and institutions such as ICE.'

Girtz previously warned 'against conflating immigration and crime' and argued that Athens does not technically fall under the category of 'sanctuary city.'
