Weren’t the people saying they weren’t terrorists relying on the fact they hadn’t committed or threatened to commit any of the specific actions under the Terrorism Act? Well… Four out of five of boxes ticked now. You may now proceed to proscribing Patriot Platform.
The Terrorism Act 2000 defines terrorism, both in and outside of the UK, as the use or threat of one or more of the actions listed
below, and where they are designed to influence the government, or an international governmental organisation or to intimidate the public. The use or threat must also be for the purpose of advancing a political, religious, racial or ideological cause.
The specific actions included are:
• serious violence against a person;
• serious damage to property;
• endangering a person's life (other than that of the person committing the action);
• creating a serious risk to the health or safety of the public or a section of the public; and
• action designed to seriously interfere with or seriously to disrupt an electronic system.

Shit, I think I’m the “previous generation” of which they speak. When did that happen?
"Cherki felt like the difference because his goals came at an important time. He is a genius. The things he can do with a football are absolute genius.
"There aren't many Premier League players l've seen that can do this on the first goal.
"Eden Hazard possibly, he was that kind of player.
Georgi Kinkladze, there'll be Manchester City fans from a previous generation who'll remember him, who could get past people in a telephone box. This was very similar.
"Once Cherki is in the box, they are so scared to touch him. It's absolute genius. He's an absolute bargain at £30m and gives you a new dimension. He gives you that 'X-factor'. He does things differently.

We recently stayed at an Airbnb which had this portrait on the wall. The owner was ex-army in the ‘Green Howards’ and this guy was a famous Green Howard; led them on D-Day and later ran a pub he renamed The Green Howards in Middlesborough. But I’ll be damned if he’s not related to Jordan Pickford…

Birds. Is every tweet a lie?
Birds Aren't Real is a satirical conspiracy theory which posits that birds are actually drones operated by the United States government to spy on American citizens. In 2018, journalist Rachel Roberts described Birds Aren't Real as "a joke that thousands of people are in on".

Shout out to the local church youth group and youth choir whose daytime showing was totally churchy in robes, but then for the night time parade they turned their float into a graveyard rave. The Vicar on the decks dressed as a skeleton. Especially appreciated the names on the gravestones.
Glow in the dark grave stones and people dressed as skeletons. Gravestone names include Hugh Janus and Seymour Butts. Classic.

It’s not just their float that is brilliantly random. Their entire endeavour is. “They’ll be astonished by what they’ll find in my garden in years to come. It’ll be like Pompeii or something… Gerry’s Pompeii.” gerryspompeii.com
WHAT IS GERRY'S POMPEII?
With limited resources and infinite imagination, Gerry Dalton (B. Athlone, Ireland, 1935 - 2019) devoted over thirty years of his life to create what has become known as 'Gerry's Pompeii.' An intensely private person, Gerry worked mostly in secret and often at night, to transform his social housing flat, garden and his neighbours' canal path into a visionary environment, off the Harrow Road in West London.
His miniature interiors, vast collection of carefully re-labelled figurines and bold Napoleonic battle scenes, spilled out onto a small garden; a devotional shrine with an army of over 100 concrete sculptures depicting his heroes of the past. Queen Maeve and Buddha were part of the brave brigade that kept guard over a 50-metre stretch of the canal-bank with lines of topiary and a glittering wall of found and assembled embellishments.
Although Gerry was well known by his neighbours and a thoughtful and caring presence on his street, the full extent of his work was only uncovered after his death in 2019.Very with a few of his statues

Tonight was the biannual Hythe Venetian Fate. Which has been running for 148 years, but isn’t very Venetian other than a canal is involved. It’s a town float parade where the floats actually float. But it’s a brilliantly kitsch spectical. One of the winners was Gerry’s Pompeii, brilliantly random.
I mean how do you even describe this picture? Some very unusual people in strange costumes on a raft on a canal in Hythe?

Because I’ve read what this guy has written. www.channel4.com/press/news/n...
IN 23 YEARS as an
NHS psychiatrist, I've seen an extraordinary rise in a single
diagnosis - Attention
Deficit Hyperactivity
Disorder (ADHD).
From being rare in
children and almost unheard of in adults, it's estimated that around 2.5 million people in England now have it.
Up from around 21,000 in 2019, there are now around 270,000 children and young people waiting for an assessment for ADHD, described as a condition where people may find it difficult to concentrate or sit still. Prescriptions for medication have climbed since the pandemic by 18 per cent a year.
It's shocking that we're giving children powerful medicines that can fundamentally change their character and personality without a bigger debate.
I and many colleagues are uneasy about it, but the subject has become so charged that speaking up in public has felt like picking a fight. My new documentary on Channel 4, The Great ADHD Myth?, is an outlet for those in the medical profession to raise concerns and to find out what's going on.
E'RE USUALLY TOLD that the
wired differently. But talking to Katya Rubia, professor of cognitive neuroscience at King's College London, I discovered that when you compare brain scans of people with the diagnosis to those without, the differences are very small, and no scan is able to reveal who has the condition and who doesn't.
So, how is it being diagnosed? Via a checklist of behaviours that includes: often talks excessively, often fidgets and fails to give close attention to detail. So much of it is vague and subjective.
I wanted to see how that works in practice, so I paid €1,200 for a private online assessment. I was told I had combined type ADHD, which I don't accept for a moment. It shows how easy it has become to reframe everyday difficulties and struggles as a medical illness rather than as a part of life.

It’s literally explained in the article
Meta may have rolled out a mandatory software update that permanently disables cameras on glasses if the LED is physically broken, but these products- which are often sold as "privacy" accessories — work because they don't rely on damaging the light. They also don't completely cover the LED, which would typically trigger a warning from Meta. Instead, the covers allow just enough peripheral light that Meta's safety feature is successfully foiled.
Here's one such "accessory" I bought after seeing it linked in someone's TikTok Shop. It consists of two sets of stickers: a small clear plastic piece that has some notches cut out and a black sticker that sits on top. The notches in the bottom piece allow some light to hit the glasses' sensor and the black sticker obscures the LED.

A man who has been diagnosed, took stimulant medication, and found them to work… Amphetamines don’t tend to give neurotypicals a ‘dialling down’ effect.

I was also prescribed lisdexamfetamine, which is given to thousands of children in the UK. Taking the drug, it was as though someone had quietly turned me down from 10 to about 7.5. That missing couple of points is more or less what makes me the person I am. I could see how a child on the medication would sit still in a classroom but complain that they don't feel themeslupe

A further 8% of referrals concerned fascination with extreme violence or mass casualty attacks, 1% concerned Incel extremism, and 0.3% concerned left-wing extremism.

Apparently we just need to eat more veg and go outside. 🙄
Concerned by the rise in the number of children taking medication for ADHD, with boys aged 10-14 comprising the largest group being medicated[2], Max meets with a young family who want to see whether holistic lifestyle changes can eliminate one boy’s use of ADHD medication. This boy undergoes an experiment over several weeks, replacing medication with sporting and creative activities, increased time spent outdoors and decreased access to screens and ultra processed foods. Will these changes enable him to come off medication altogether?

Dr Max Pemberton said: “As a psychiatrist, I've watched ADHD go from a diagnosis that was only occasionally made and after careful assessment, to one that is increasingly demanded and dispensed, and I wanted to understand why. There's no doubt that the people seeking these diagnoses are genuinely struggling; that isn't in question. What the film asks is whether ADHD is really the best explanation for that struggle and my hope is that we come away with permission to ask better questions about what modern life is doing to all of us.”

Indeed. It would be remiss of me not to quote the world’s expert on the matter, @womanssphere.bsky.social, from this BBC article. “It's not possible to imagine women winning the vote without the suffragettes”. Both groups were required. www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-4...
Who won women the vote?
"It's not possible to imagine women winning the vote without the suffragettes," says Ms Connelly,
"The militant organising, particularly of working class women, pointed to the possibility of a movement that would grow and could potentially become an enormous mass movement."
Both sides of the movement halted their campaigns in 1914, in order to support the war efforts.
World War One and women undertaking jobs usually done by men was the catalyst for extending votes to women.
"It was the suffragists who said that if you give the vote to more classes of men then you must include women," says Ms Crawford.
"The whole idea of what women could be, had changed by then - with all the work they'd been doing in World War One - that the government felt able to make this concession."
Ms Connelly agrees that the suffragettes were inspired by the suffragists, but that ultimately both movements played their part in winning the vote by organising women on mass in so many different ways.

Nope. Just one example, Guido Fawkes was named #36 in the top newsmakers of 2006 by the Independent, and GQ ranked him #28 number 28 in their list of the 100 Most Influential Men in Britain. Both prior to him being ‘outed’ as Paul Staines. He probably had more credibility when he was anonymous!
36. GUIDO FAWKES
The blog of war
Guido Fawkes's political blog has gained praise and notoriety over the past 12 months for its bold reporting and the intrigue surrounding his identity. The name isn't the most auspicious of pseudonyms for someone who makes a living grubbing for gossip in the murkier corners of Westminster, but Fawkes blogs for the politicians, the lobby journalists and the layman alike. He is rewarded for his frankness - he refuses to keep quiet about the open secrets political reporters never print, and was responsible for outing John Prescott's affair and naming Tracey Temple this summer.
In May, he co-authored a book with the Conservative blogger lain Dale about Labour Party sleaze and helped Press Gazette to out his own identity last month as one Paul Staines, a former acid-house party promoter who made his fortune in finance. He is currently setting up a company called MessageSpace to help the more popular political blogs make money.

You’ll excuse me for not trusting WHO’s opinion regarding how a disease spreads or the risk of human-to-human infection.
In an update on Thursday, Dr Maria Van Kerkhove from the World Health Organization (WHO) stressed it was not the start of a pandemic, saying:
"This is not Covid, this is not influenza, it spreads very, very differently."
Unlike diseases such as measles, which are highly contagious and spread easily, the Andes strain of hantavirus behind the outbreak is not that infectious.
Human-to-human spread is possible but the risk of infections globally remains low, says WHO.
WHO tweet from 28th March 2000 (now very much debunked/wrong):

FACT: #COVID19 is NOT airborne.
The #coronavirus is mainly transmitted through droplets generated when an infected person coughs, sneezes or speaks.

FACT CHECK: COVID-19 is NOT airborne
The virus that causes COVID-19 is mainly transmitted through droplets generated when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or speaks. These droplets are too heavy to hang in the air. They quickly fall on floors or surfaces.
You can be infected by breathing in the virus if you are within 1 metre of a person who has COVID-19, or by touching a contaminated surface and then touching your eyes, nose or mouth before washing your hands.
To protect yourself, keep at least 1 metre distance from others and disinfect surfaces that are touched frequently. Regularly clean your hands thoroughly and avoid touching your eyes, mouth, and nose.
