Oh look another thing the National Coalition lied about, and the media didn't pick up. Nat/ACT/NZF lied that TPM didn't respond to their gun toting accusation so they could frame TPM with the intimidation narrative. #nzpol #kiwi Thanks Andrew Riddell over on my Substack.

They accused Ngarewa-Packer of simulating a firearm.The Committee acknowledged they could be wrong:

"If there was another view of what that was, we were not afforded the opportunity to hear it."

But they had received it.

The submission from Te Pāti Māori, as Andrew Riddell
writes below, said:

"We reject the misrepresentation of Debbie Ngarewa-Packer's gesture as simulating a firearm. The motion in question was a wiri-a trembling, deliberate expression of emotional intensity rooted in haka and Māori oratory. The word she expressed at the conclusion of the haka was "kino", not "e noho" as the committee has reported."

Never letting a good opportunity go to waste, the government ignored this.

Then went on to publicly accuse Te Pāti Māori of the act anyway, formally censuring 3 of their MPs for “intimidation” - ensuring some media took the narrative as a lead.

THE Prime Minister says he would expect someone ‘‘taking on a directorship job’’ to do some ‘‘due diligence’’ and ‘‘know what you’re signing up for’’, following Richard Prebble’s resignation from the Waitangi Tribunal.

The former Act New Zealand leader said he had become increasingly alarmed at the tribunal’s decisions, and disagreed with a strategic document which set out a view the Treaty guarantees equality — claiming he had only been given the document after he had started in the role.

Christopher Luxon was asked about the resignation and said that was ‘‘ultimately a decision for him,’’ but indicated he would have expected Mr Prebble to do his research.

‘‘I would have thought if you’re taking on a directorship job, you’d actually do some due diligence before and know what you’re signing up for.’’

When Prebble wrote his resignation letter via the media he wrote "Over the summer, I have been reading the tribunal’s recent reports and doing my own research" But, "Chairperson of the Waitangi Tribunal, I expect all members to undertake their own due diligence" BEFORE they apply for the role.
