There’s quite a few more pages of the movie review btw. How many comic books included an entire essay on a movie?

Now THAT is a great page.

@everyscififilm.bsky.social Was worried it had been dumped, but… I found it! 😀 Stashed away for the last 45 years:

Wait wait wait… very dusty but *** this looks promising *** 🙂 (Found shoved down the end of a totally different part of the eaves).

Ouch, a bad few days for movies on Blu-ray/DVD in the UK. Zavvi have been wound up, and the website is down. And HMV is closing its flagship London store on Oxford Street (although rumoured to be moving to a new site with less crazy rent… so fingers crossed for that).

Yup. Definitely the worst kind of troll.

Paul Hurt @paulhurt.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
Indeed. I fear most countries are way behind the curve, and need to adapt to deal with this new reality a whole lot quicker. Otherwise we’ll all be the boiling frog.

Paul Hurt @paulhurt.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
FYI, I looked at other posts of this anti-EU troll and blocked him. Anyone that tells someone to “STFU” and immediately calls them “a moron” doesn’t deserve a millisecond of anyone’s attention.

But I’m fascinated to know who and what you think I support. I don’t support trolls, that’s for sure.

It’s not just about money for gas. What Russia spent decades *buying* in the UK was influence over UK government. To the point where our leadership wouldn’t say boo to them. Sure other European countries are to blame too. But different motivations. The Tories rushed at Russian money out of greed.

Paul Hurt @paulhurt.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
European leaders need to redefine what constitutes an attack on their countries, fast.

Hmm. How to tell me you don’t get it in six words.

“Exploring opportunities for improved trade relations with Russia”. Or in other words, they have a lot of money, and we could get rich by helping them spend it.

Paul Hurt @paulhurt.bsky.social · 12/10/2026
I’m sure there was plenty of both scattered throughout the Tory party, and outside it too. I doubt anyone joined Conservative Friends of Russia for humanitarian reasons.

I’m sorry if you couldn’t trust your parents when they told you they would or wouldn’t do something for you. I get it. But my parents weren’t your parents.

Is there some kind of viral outbreak of patronising self-righteousness over there? Is this what comic book collectors are generally like? Because if they are, I’m selling everything (which isn’t much if I can’t find these boxes).

Current thinking: BlueSky for posting, Threads (and if I have to, X) for reading. I’m blocking ppl on Threads almost as much as I used to have to block them on X.

Paul Hurt @paulhurt.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
Comic book fans on Threads reacting with all the empathy you’d expect e.g. ROTFL emojis. Maybe those “mouse utopia” experiments have some relevance after all.

😀 Love it.

I know 😕. Was on a mission to retrieve my copy of the Giant Size Marvel 2001 adaptation for someone… Maybe it’s all been moved? 🤷‍♂️🙏 If so I have no idea where. There’s a bunch of it and it was heav-yyy… Someone would remember. 🫣😳🤬 Bit scared tbh.

Have a great one. Such a historic venue. Have enjoyed playing “Hello Cleveland!” in the catacombs beneath the stage once or twice. Should be referred to of course by its correct name, “Hammersmith Odeon” 🤪

Uh oh. I have a horrible sinking feeling that my entire comic book collection that I carefully packed away in my parents’ loft space in 1977 has been dumped without my knowledge… 50 years later, there seems to be a big space where I left it. 😳

If they want to focus on Reform’s performance, how about “ ‘Britain’s most-popular political party’ win only 6% of vote in by-election.”
000
Paul Hurt @paulhurt.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
America has to learn to vote against things as well as for them. No-one ever gets their perfect candidate with a perfect set of policies. But you could have voted to prevent the worst candidate to ever run becoming President again. The people that didn’t vote are as dumb as the MAGAs that did.

Isn’t “mob rule” another way of saying “democracy”?

Dear BlueSky - know any medical professionals (ideally UK, but Europe works too) doing transcutaneous O2 / CO2 monitoring with *Clark sensors* ? (eg Perimed/Radiometer). 20 years of life-changing illness, only getting worse, and after my latest brush-off I might have hit a final dead-end. Thanks.

Lastly, I think he’s overlooking the fact that its not Californians they would be targeting, it’s him. Not that there’s anything to worry about because a) he totally eliminated their nuclear program, right? And b) the US has a drunk Fox News presenter in charge of national defence.

Who did help protect LA tho? Canadian and Mexican firefighters.

Don’t remember him “protecting our cities” when 18,000 houses in LA burned to the ground last year.

They love to explore don’t they? My previous husky wasn’t a fence-jumper thank god, but if there was the slightest hole or weakness… he couldn’t resist checking out the neighbourhood. Cornered him in a local fast-food drive-thru more than once.

These are looking pretty alright. I mean, they’re just sketchy old fence posts, I’m not making furniture here… but quite happy what a few hours with some power tools can pull off.

Dog. Requires new, very specific bit of garden fence built before she’s allowed to travel to the UK from Bosnia! I mean, it’s not some giant mutant dog or something, they’re just very particular.

Next time I’m going to try multiple passes on a table saw, break out the bits inbetween with a chisel, then hopefully one pass with a router to finish to final depth. Classic wise-after-the-event thinking. Might have done these that way if the posts and the table saw weren’t two miles apart.

Cutting quite a large slot in a post with quite a small router. Managed it, but can’t entirely recommend.

I wanted to say, what an INCREDIBLE interview with Aaron Sorkin. That was the best… hour?… of podcast I’ve listened to in a very long time. Thanks so much.

Oh PLEASE check out the interview Simon Brew does with Sorkin, on the Film Stories podcast. Amazing interview, Simon Brew is a legend. Was listening to it today while I was up a ladder fixing a roof.

That’s a question that’s many steps ahead of where we are. Until we can show that our house is back in order, there’s not much conversation to be had with the EU. Every journey starts with a single step etc. Glad to see we’re finally taking one.

The four-by-seven metre flag artwork was sewn and glued by a small team led by Claire, who usually works with vintage fabrics Signatures on the art piece include a descendant of Industrial Revolution pioneer James Watt, as well as members of Birmingham reggae bands Steel Pulse & UB40 #ReunionJack🇬🇧

The simple solution is to stop using his social media service. There are at least two better alternatives. (Okay, maybe one, but it’s all relative). The fact that people stay on X despite its CEO tells me a lot about people.

That’s enough to fill your local swimming pool ten times over. Thames Water - very quick to chase payment, not so good at the rest of their job.

I reported a leaking street water shut-off valve at the bottom of my mum’s garden to Thames Water well over a month ago. Still not fixed. Just been to investigate and worked out that in that time, it has leaked 1,500,000 litres of mains water into the ground.

I’d like them more if they didn’t always poo/wee where they just ate/drank. I’ve never understood that. Haven’t they heard the saying?
