Bashed my toe so bad 2 weeks ago that I limped for a full week... This morning I woke up & had the thought "Hey, my foot doesn't feel so bad, what a relief." & within 5 minutes I bashed my finger so hard that it's turned purple, so I'm afraid I may have entered my glorious "Klutz Era"

Carla has a very special skill where when we're watching a movie she holds out for as long as she possibly can before requesting a quick break to go get more water, and when she eventually does, almost without fail, we press pause and learn that there are 5 minutes or less left in the movie.

It feels insane listening to the NYT talk at length about the differences between prediction markets and stock market trading, and whether prediction markets are actually gambling sites.. as though the stock market isn't also just gambling in a nicer suit.

It's awesome how Ewan McGregor can be a really great actor, and can do a decent American accent, but absolutely can't do both at the same time.

Just walked through the house and saw two separate piles of acorn caps left by me in different rooms, not counting the ones in my pocket right now, and realised that Carla basically lives with a squirrel.

Any mutuals in the UK - I impulsively bought tickets months ago to a show in London in November, and now I’m actually considering maybe going. Looking for recommendations on accommodations, etc, in or near Camden. Also if anyone wants to hang, hit me up!

It’s wild how when Pokemon Go first came out a bunch of folks were like “This feels like a way to crowdsource very detailed maps of the insides of public & private spaces which could be used for pretty bad reasons”.. & people were like “calm down, it’s a game!”, & guess what turned out to be true?

Got a v nice email from someone letting me know this towel I designed for @maximumfun.org last year is their fav towel & wondering if there’s a way to get another. I can’t help with that part, but honestly it was really nice to hear, because this is one of my fav things I’ve made in recent years. 🦄
A brightly coloured, illustrated towel inspired by Lisa Frank merchandise, for the Maximum Fun Co-Op. It features a flowing, psychedelic space rainbow, with planets, black holes, stars, galaxies, as well as a domed futuristic space city, dolphins, rocket ships, a dog, a polite little cat with a vest offering you a rose, and a magestic rainbow-maned unicorn, being ridden by Nutsy the MaxFun squirrel, holding a microphone. The bottom right corner features a Lisa Frank inspired MaximumFun logo. Even though I drew this, I don’t mind saying that it’s awesome and I love it. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Just got one of those weird AI-generated paid-promotion book review emails about a book that is basically a perpetual day-planner / art book, with short fiction, which was published 16 years ago, and is likely close to out of print.

I was just sent a finished reference image by a coworker for a project I was about to start on, and I said “Oh wow, that’s really beautiful, who drew that one?” & she said “well, I composited it, but those are your drawings” so basically I’ll be hiding in this hole for the rest of the day.

Axios writer: I melted my brain with AI. Not only can I no longer read, but I don't even understand the purpose of reading anymore. Here's how you can also do this. www.axios.com/2026/08/11/r...
Axios: AI has become my reading buddy as I've plowed through my summer book list, helping me keep track of plots and characters, unpack themes, and make sense of wordy, old prose.

Why it matters: The way many of us actually read books — a few pages before bed, a chapter at the beach, another on a plane — makes it easy to lose the thread. AI can help you pick it back up without starting over.
📖 I really got into using AI while reading James Fenimore Cooper's "The Last of the Mohicans." The text was far too dense for casual vacation reading. My first prompt asked:

"I'd like a guide as I read The Last of the Mohicans who can help me understand what I've read and where the story is, without giving spoilers or getting ahead of my progress. Can you do this, chapter by chapter?"
The robot agreed: "Cooper's sentences are long and his diction is archaic."

I’d like to thank @agoldman.bsky.social & the team at @hyperfixedpod.bsky.social because I genuinely think that their two part episode about FIP, played a major role in this insanely cute little weirdo (my parents 1 year old cat Bentley) being alive & thriving today.
An american short hair cat with brown Tabby patterning, big, wide set eyes and a smushed little nose, reclining on a wooden coffee table, totally unaware of how close he came to shuffling off this mortal coil

Imagine Al was suddenly banned.
Would you actually be willing to give it up?

This is really weird, but there’s a guy I don’t really like who has a tattoo of my old band, and literally every time I run into him, he says “I still have that tattoo, man!” and I’m always like “Yeah, I mean, that’s famously how tattoos work."

Just impressed my coworkers by knowing this guy’s full name right off the dome, (it’s Michigan J. Frog) if you were wondering what I bring to the table as an employee.
Michigan J Frog, the dancing frog from Warner Bros. cartoons. An illustration of a green cartoon frog, standing on a tightrope wire, with a cane and top hat, kicking his leg up, illuminated by a spotlight.

I know duckduckgo isn’t perfect, but it does allow you to easily disable ALL of the AI features from search, & everywhere else, which is huge. The biggest, absolute game-changing feature though is using duckplayer to watch any youtube video WITHOUT ADS. None. It’s a beautiful thing.

I keep thinking about a gag from Widow’s Bay where the mayor is absent-mindedly flipping thru a calendar, pics of wolves one after the other. Then a photo of a transport truck flipped in a ditch.. at which he pauses, flips back to the cover to see the title “Wolves” & then puts it back on the wall.

Here's a poster I designed/illustrated for this year's Sappyfest in Sackville, New Brunswick. Lots of fun little critters getting sappy, making music, having fun! A variation of this will be available as a limited edition screen print as well at the festival.
A poster for a music festival called Sappyfest, in Sackville New Brunswick. The poster is framed by a wiggly yellow arch shape, with 3D lettering in an arc spelling SAPPYFEST at the top.
