The answer to your question is simple. There is no entryism in the Labour Party by anyone funded by a foreign government. In the 1950s there was a suspicion that the USSR was funding Labour MPs. But nothing since then.

Equally worrying is why so many broadcast media are giving her a free pass when ordinarily they would tear apart the sheer superficiality of these ‘defences plans’ which are just gimmick ideas.

On this day 3 years ago, Hamas committed a crime against humanity, massacred 1,209 Jewish people and kidnapped another 251. Netanyahu’s government’s retaliation was a further crime against humanity and 75,000 have perished.

The post election analysis shows this isn’t the case. In deep blue Tory areas yes but not in the places where the Green Party one control of Councils.

There are few places where Labour works with the Greens. But there are a few local authorities where the Lib Dems have put minority Green administrations into office like Southwark, Lambeth and Haringey. They need to think hard about what they're doing.

Labour figures rule out working with Greens after ‘Zionism is racism’ vote
Minister says they could not see parties cooperating, while official says coalition should be formally ruled out Senior Labour party figures said it is very unlikely their party would cooperate with the Greens in the future after they adopted a policy treating Zionism as a form of racism. One Labour minister said they could not foresee how the two parties could work together, while a government official said Labour should formally rule out a future coalition or other arrangement. Caselaw says decisions under royal prerogative are subject to legal challenge in the same was as decisions under statute power. That seems pretty reasonable. Leave aside that Ranger's behaviour was unacceptable, he does have a right to challenge the forfeiture of an honour granted under prerogative.

The CPS guidance says: “Criminal immunity is only afforded to the Service Staff at foreign diplomatic or foreign London-based consular missions in respect of the acts performed in the course of their duties. However, such staff are not inviolable.”

Diplomatic immunity isn’t granted in perpetuity. Nor is it absolute.

Polanski is still stuck in student politics mode. The Government isn’t “going after pensioners”. Burnham just announced the best possible outcome for older people: a care system that doesn’t strip pensioners of everything they have. Oh yes, and also took State pension out of taxation.

Trump is a halfwit. The 1951 Greenland Defence Agreement allows the US military to operate in Greenland with Danish consent and within a NATO framework. He's just claimed credit for a deal that is just the 1951 agreement.

In football news, Tottenham Hotspur squeezed a point today. Their first point of the season. Placed 17th in the table. N17th as we say in N1, N5 and most elsewhere in North London.

Yes we do. But there's not that many. My street has BT poles, BT ducts and G Network ducts. The poles are served by underground cables. So the last 20 metres is wires in the air. And that's not so viable for fibre.
100
Paul Convery @paulconvery.bsky.social · 31/08/2026
Also a reminder that one of BT's biggest assets is the vast network of underground ducts through which that copper used to run. Much of it is now housing fibre but BT has discovered its ducts are very valuable especially when compared with how much it's cost firms like G Network to dig up roads.

The Green Party has banned UK Friends of Standing Together from attending their conference. Standing Together (Omdim Beyachad) is a Jewish-Palestinian group that calls for the creation of a Palestinian state, organises Gaza aid convoys and organises to protect West Bank Palestinians from attacks.

After all, the supplementary vote system used to elect the big city mayors seems to work OK. The main perversity in multi party FPTP elections is 3 or 4 way contests where a candidate can win with barely a third or quarter of votes.
011
Paul Convery @paulconvery.bsky.social · 12/08/2026
Much of the electoral reform debate now seems to be STV, AMS or other systems designed to achieve proportional perfection. AV-type options seems considered dead seemingly because the referendum over a decade ago was lost. Yet it seems a reasonable way to keep constituencies but avoid worst of FPTP.

The BBC's online explainer of the Greater Manchester by-election describes the area as the "ceremonial county". Wrong. It's the former Metropolitan County established 1972 Local Government Act, abolished 1986 by Thatcher, recreated as as a Combined Authority in 2011.
