The flip side of this is that under successive governments, demands aren't heard unless they're sent up via smoke signal. The teacher shortage has been rampant since my kid was in school - no change for decades. Set a bunch of schools on fire? A promise of 3000 more teachers. Alors, vive la France

At this point, it's easier to remember the few exceptions who stood up than it is to remember the myriad who didn't - and that will be part of the problem when accountability comes.

Did you know elevated CO₂ reduces protein in flower pollen? New research reveals: 📉 Larger pollinators are less abundant in high-CO₂ areas. 🐝 Yet, large bees are among our most effective pollinators. Understanding these shifts is key to supporting vital pollinators in a warming world.

The tech iteration of how sperm donation≠parenting. Remember the baby monkey clutching the cloth monkey rather than the wire monkey that supplied food in those unethical Nature of Love experiments from the 1950s? This guy isn't even the wire monkey. He's the researcher and his baby is the monkey.

The rhetoric of tech in a nutshell: I value convenience, efficiency, ease first and also have no capacity to recognize humanity, my own or others, but feel qualified to run the world. Someone send an army of divorce lawyers; after all this guy already wants to disconnect.

This is an important statement people, and especially elected Dems need to really understand. The current Republican project is one of destruction, by design. Yes, they have other goals, in RFK’s case he’s objectively pro-disease, but their primary metric of success is breaking government.

Had a conversation with my adult kid about black plastics in food containers. Her comment: You had them, and you’re fine. The thing is, they didn’t even exist when I was younger, so I wasn’t exposed to plastics in everything that she’s been exposed to her entire life. Some risk factors are all new.

Scary stories: Gosh, so many things scared me as a kid. The Exorcist, which my parents foolishly let me read when it came out. HP Lovecraft, which they also let me read as a 10-year-old (WHYYYYY?) And for some reason, this scene from Alice in Wonderland gave me years of nightmares.
