My current art obsession is this round ass Godzilla by Mike Mignola. Plump but still menacing w/ that classic Mignola line and shape efficiency.

Illustration of a plump Godzilla with their mouth open towards the sky. A smoke surrounding them

oh yeah, in terms of good news- I haven't seen anyone talking about this??? In short- worst case scenario of 4C warming by 2100 is no longer possible, new worst-case is 2.8C now DOES NOT MEAN we just relax- the only way we got here is through hard work- but it means THE HARD WORK IS WORKING

Sometimes it hits me all over again that I actually achieved my childhood dreams. I became a comic book artist, and a good one. A professional. I actually did it. No matter what else happens in my life, 9 year old me is astonished at everything so far.

as a culture we have really given "ideas" way too much credit. ideas are a dime a dozen. they happen all the time. the magic is way more in the doing, and the doing's diminished stature is linked to lack of respect for labor and, more recently, skill and expertise.

subway ad that says "your idea could be live by the time you reach your stop"

Someone patched GIMP to look and feel exactly like Adobe Photoshop. Same keyboard shortcuts. Same tool layout. Same everything. It's called PhotoGIMP and it's free.

I think the biggest damage to the art community was the obsolescence of gallery sites (y!, deviantart, etc) and the rise of scroll-by social media, like twitter and even tumblr. Art is not ''content'', you shouldnt need to post art every day (or every month!) to be relevant. This mindset sucks.
