No one experiencing homelessness should be asked to give up a beloved pet in order to access a safe place to sleep. A pet can be a lifeline for someone going through homelessness. A source of stability during a time of crisis, a comfort when life is at its hardest.

Homeless Link found that 77% of people experiencing homelessness had a diagnosed mental health condition. Housing & mental health are closely connected. A safe home can provide an important foundation for wellbeing, alongside access to the right support. #WorldMentalHealthDay #WorldHomelessDay

New figures from the Museum of Homelessness & @ncmd.bsky.social reveal 51 children experiencing homelessness died in the UK in 2025. 63% of them were under one year old. All local authorities should be required to record and report homeless deaths in their area, including children.

Increasing violence, staffing pressures, excessive workloads, assaults on staff, and continuing demands placed them. Yet, unlike many other workers, Prison Officers do not possess the right to take industrial action. This is wholly unacceptable and must be put right by this government.

Alongside colleagues I’ve signed letters to the Secretary of State, and the Chief Executive of Ofcom regarding the failures of Royal Mail. We’ve had several complaints from constituents about missing appointments and receiving fines due to letters arriving too late. And this problem is countrywide.
