Inothewayurthinkin could run in the Grand National. Couple of facts about horses attempting the double in the same season: 1) Synchronised and Alverton were Gold Cup winners that died in the National within a month of their career high. 2) Golden Miller is the only horse to complete the double.

2.14 ROCK ON RITA looks like a JP McManus gamble. Hopeless of late but now races off a mark lower than his wins in 2022. Why is she still in training? Looks like this is the day. Now 11/8!!

The beauty of @betfairuk.bsky.social is you don't have to find a winner, just find a loser. My lay of the Festival, Lulamba, was caught close home by a 100/1 shot after trading odds-on on the run-in. You have the entire field on your side, if you lay a horse. Even the outsiders are running for you.

When the director of ITV Racing gets it in his head that the day's racing is all about X, whatever that is, poor Ed (Chamberlin) has to go on and on about it ad infinitum.

''The bigger the field, the bigger the certainty.'' As daft as ''Top weight never stopped a good horse.''

THE NEW LION . . . That was as good a waiting ride at the Festival as all Ruby's on QUEVEGA. Harry Skelton had complete confidence in his mount's ability to go past FINAL DEMAND and THE YELLOW CLAY.

Puturhandstogether . . . Possibly the first Cheltenham Festival winner to have finished unplaced twice on the AW at Dundalk! Obviously didn't like the surface. Then again, maybe his owner and trainer had handicaps in mind.

Number crunching: GB’s News’ total losses v how many signed photographs of presenters the channel has been offering to viewers. From the latest Private Eye, in shops now.

Very happy with LOSSIEMOUTH winning the Mares Hurdle over 2m4f. The minimum trip of 2m is outside of her comfort zone now. Pity folk can't accept that.

Loving today's four novice hurdles. Racing Post Topspeed top-rated Old Cowboy 4/1, Shermanator 11/8, Believitanducan Evens and Fasol Evens.

The LAY OF THE DAY is coming up at Fontwell. 2.20 I laid LE TIEP'S SACRE last night at 3.5. Now 6.2. Maybe he will go shorter in running.

@allmanbros2.bsky.social A one meeting a year track. I happened upon it because Ellerton which won a Flat maiden there in August 2023 ran a promising race at Wincanton today. A non-trier in a race won by a stable mate.
