I don't know when it's time to stop investing in the cheapest possible mandolin and admit that I actually enjoy the instrument/buy a good one. But I've added an arm rest to mine and have started looking into what it would take to add my own adjustable bridge 😆

Finally done having l hanging my assorted string instruments. It took awhile since I needed to install toggle bolts for the hangers off the studs. Now I just need something to hold the various plectrums.

I'm working on my totally normal string instrument wall. I have one more kid guitar and one more dulcimer to go. Personally I think dulcimers are better to learn on, but the guitars were still pretty cool Christmas gifts and means my kids can just learn Taylor Swift songs without transposing.

One of my favorite music shops could be going out of business, and it happens to be the one that got me into playing music (owner sold me a dulcimer, set it up, and even showed me some basic dulcimer tunes). So of course I had to give this mandolin a good home.

The whistles are how it started for me. Then I got self conscious about running around with basically Irish recorders (which I shouldn't, now I can play them just as well as my other instruments). This is most of my whistles (three are missing, and one of those has me worried now 😆)

I made the mistake of running in the only person irl who knows what a theorbo is and thinks they're cool, and I've been casually bringing it up in random conversations since and confusing everyone.

Anyway, my new Steam Deck is just my phone with a Kishi dock (I have Hollow Knight running locally on Android via GameHub: gamehub.xiaoji.com). This pairs super well with the Razer Kishi 2 (I'm... kind of considering restarting Silksong now, this hurts less than a Switch controller 😆).

Wrapped up the night jamming on dulcimers with my LO. The small dulcimer is mine (the strings have too much tension for smaller fingers).

Two dulcimers. One standard length Apple Creek hourglass dulcimer with a pick and rainbow noter. One octave higher "dulcimette" strung similar to a mandolin (all double courses).

Remember: accessibility is for everyone, as disabilities may be permanent, temporary, or situational. For example: today I took my contacts out after eating chips with ghost pepper salsa and having a taco with ghost pepper sauce on it. I was fully blind for about 15 minutes.

One of the best ways to learn a song is to keep it hung up in your kitchen with a kitchen pennywhistle nearby. The animal butts are part of my process.
