Landscape of the Moon's Last Phase www.wikiart.org/en/paul-nash/landsc…
Paul Nash's "Landscape of the Moon's Last Phase" depicts a surreal and dreamlike landscape with a haunting moon cast behind abstract hills in a palette of earthy twilight hues. Nash, known for his evocative war landscapes, skillfully blends natural forms with a sense of mysticism, reflecting his fascination with the esoteric nature of the English countryside.

Just watched this Reynolds episode. Honestly, at the end, I sighed and said out loud to myself (and the black cat), ".. and they don't make civilised telly like this anymore." Thank you - and the team you worked with - for the episodes you *did* make!

Hmm. I may have ethical concerns regarding the combination of chocolate with custard creams, also my taste buds may suffer from category confusion. Would I be entitled to compensation, or does the waiver form deny that option?

I'm impressed by your commitment to in-person field research. I now feel obliged to increase n to 2, probably tomorrow afternoon. I'd better check the freezer, as I might have to be prepared to eat all three at one sitting 😅

Welsh poet RS Thomas died #OnThisDay in 2000. Here's a tribute by Rowan Williams (patron of the RS Thomas & ME Eldridge Society)…
Text of poem -

Deathship.
(In memory of R. S. Thomas)
The last years, words from a window smoothing the sea, the iron back and forth to probe the fugitive wrinkles carving a path down to the lost gate.
What hid in the pale clefts till now feels for the light, a soft uncertain lingering as if through stone, through furrows of flint.
The tides pressed neat as for an evening out: time to drag down a black boat from the shed, off through the gate, to balance on the slow sea at dark, ready to sail.
The smoke will rise, the cloudy pillar wavering across the sky's long page At dawn, somewhere westward, the boat flares in a blaze of crying birds.
- Rowan WilliamsA black-and-white close-up portrait of an elderly RS Thomas with tousled white hair and a deeply lined face, wearing a dark coat. He is looking slightly off-camera with a happy expression.

My apologies 😕 I will rectify the matter very soon, when further research funds are available (and there's room in the freezer).

I had to pop into the local Lidl, and chanced to be in the freezer aisle. I spotted Pistachio, Peach, Cherry and Gazillionaire varieties. Is that a "full house"? 🤔 Wells is definitely a hot spot for ice cream!

I look forward to reviewing your research (n=1) 😄 Earlier this year, there was home-grown mulberry ice cream. My research concluded that it may have been better as a sorbet. Am now considering whether my glut of quinces can be similarly treated .. "There's always room for ice cream"!

I'm lucky to be within strolling distance of www.cafenostra.co.uk in Wells, Somerset. There is a limited selection of icecream🍦, as all are made in-house, but occasionally pistachio is available 😋 And, as Frankie says, flavour suggestions "are always welcome"! (But be sensible 😉) #Wells #somerset

There's a glorious exhibition of some of Godwin's images at www.ffotogaleriygofeb.co.uk and www.penralltgallerybookshop.co.uk in Machynlleth until the end of September, I think. Images of familiar places I've never been, but yearn to go.

A special moment, to have W Kennet to yourself 😊 It's a superbly rich landscape. I had it in mind to visit the Grey Wethers and West Wood, the raw materials for the monuments, yesterday, but "events" 🙄 Here is a view of Silbury from the barrow on a sunnier day last year 🌞

My first morning in the Omaze house. I didn’t sleep. I could hear crying from behind the door I’m not allowed to open. The only thing to eat is frozen prawns. I went for a wander round the 4 acre garden and found a box of VHS tapes marked ‘For the next one’. I’m sure it’s fine. I’m sure it’s all fine

I was there! My mum took me & a school chum to see the opening. First, a trip on a Bristol Bus doubledecker to Aust, then we sat in the south stand to see the royal bubble car take HM E2 and Prince P to Wales. Us riff-raff were then allowed to walk over the bridge. We turned back halfway ..

Off at a tangent, I didn't know that the Mappa Mundi features Clee Hill as a sort of Mt Kailash (other cultures' names are available) with >4 rivers rising near it. Suggestive of the map maker's knowledge of the area? I'm thinking also of the Gawain Poet's use of N. Wales, Cheshire and the Peak.

Old Woman Reading www.wikiart.org/en/rembrandt/old-wo…
"Old Woman Reading" captures the intimate and contemplative moment of a woman engrossed in a book, a characteristic example of Rembrandt's ability to portray emotion and depth. The artist's use of chiaroscuro enhances the solemn atmosphere, highlighting the details of her weathered face and adding warmth to her focused expression.
