Anecdotally it feels similar from the parts of Chrome I'm in the triage loop on but still not calm by any means. I'm not sure that trend holds across the wider ecosystem though. Here's the recent CVE trending for Chrome:

RUM is invaluable for the end-user ground truth, but being able to simulate/reproduce in a lab environment got 100x more useful with LLM's and agent harnesses. Agents are great at finding optimizations, even if complex (make sure to protect anything you care about with tests).

Nature will find a way though. Either the peer review process will streamline in larger corps/codebases or they'll lose to nimbler teams that can move orders of magnitude faster.

Patrick Meenan @patmeenan.com · 07/07/2026
Much less flow on anything peer-revoewed. MUCH more flow on anything that isn't (personal projects, experiments, investigations). Higher pace of generating code but slower review cycles (and more time reviewing) is a killer.

Patrick Meenan @patmeenan.com · 07/07/2026
The flow state for me is much more at the architecture level, putting pieces together and shaking out the overall system design and AI has actually made that a lot easier to maintain because of the pace it can make changes at. Actual lines of code have always been a means to an end.

I'm optimistic that as the models get faster/better, the level of engagement can keep it interesting instead of moving towards just handing off everything.

Patrick Meenan @patmeenan.com · 07/07/2026
The more I hand off to a team of agents self-managing loops or goals (or whatever the latest lingo and models are) the less involved I am. It generates a whole lot more in each pass and I'm doing more validation and cleanup than anything.

Patrick Meenan @patmeenan.com · 07/07/2026
I get higher levels of flow for longer periods whenI use faster models/thinking and stay in the loop, watching the traces as it works, stopping it and interjecting, doing work incrementally instead of in huge chunks. The hours just disappear.

If you have some sample files I can check, but waterfal-tools should hopefully already be able to render them using the existing support for trace files.

Patrick Meenan @patmeenan.com · 06/07/2026
Mostly that I wasn't aware of it and can't find it now other than a reference to a RUM events to trace format converter. If that's what it was, then the main difference would be the payload size. If you're aware of any other packaged RUM data format, I'm happy to add support to waterfall-tools.

Probably worth mentioning that I run them in YOLO mode in a clean VM and with "git commit" blocked at a tool level so nothing gets committed until I'm happy with it. Being in the loop gives me a chance to steer them as we are going. Work chunks are pretty big (whole feature or component).

A lot of switching between IDEs, copy/paste and: "Please review the current git status..." "I had another agent review the changes and they had some feedback..." Then commit the in-flight changes when everyone is happy. I'm too cheap to pay API prices for real tooling (which is the right way) 😂

As much flack as Gemini 3.5 Flash gets for not being in the same league as Opus 4.8 and GPT 5.5, it still finds a LOT of real issues with their work. Using all 3 in concert for "fun" projects and I stand by my earlier assertions that they work best together, reviewing each other, not picking one.

The evolution on the API helps... "We need a way to share 2GB models that will never be pervasive"... "If the security and privacy considerations can be figured out, why limit it to 2GB models"... Mostly driven by efforts to keep the web competitive with locked platforms while staying open.

It is opt-in/explicit and is a hash-indexed cache independent of where it was served from (you can serve react core from your origin but benefit if someone already shipped it and still trust the payload). Also has different security and pervasiveness considerations.

I'm also assuming that the legal frameworks would either need to evolve if they don't currently handle the AI codegen side of things well or put the US at a massive competitive disadvantage against somewhere like China.

Don't get me wrong, I love the tools and can't imagine working without them, I'm just concerned that the adoption may have gotten ahead of the legal frameworks.

I assume indemnification, even on the commercial side, still means that company has to be around and capable of absorbing your loss/risk (and that feels like a massive risk they are all carrying if something goes sideways).

Patrick Meenan @patmeenan.com · 27/05/2026
Has there been any movement on the legal/copyright side of AI and code (US)? I know fully-AI-generated things can't be copyrighted. Is that still the only part settled? How about AI-assisted? Commercial API subs indemnify but personal don't against copyright violation on generated code?

I find using different core models more useful than just picking one "best" one. It's like getting different perspectives. They all find things the others miss and approach a problem differently. Models from the same family or with different prompts are too similar.

Awesome writeup. My takeaway is really not so much that Mythos is hype as the AI security tooling in general is REALLY good so don't wait (you can bet the bad guys aren't). Chances are that your project (open or closed) hasn't been as hardened as curl has.

I'm not sure speed is even a particularly high barrier (depending on the client). If you have a new device or "browser" and a general theme for how to present content to users, I expect even the smallest Gemma 4 models could transform Web MCP (or RSS) on the edge in close to realtime.
011
Patrick Meenan @patmeenan.com · 04/05/2026
How much will it continue to be a case of defining the full experience vs just providing the core content and letting a local LLM present it in whatever form is most useful for the device/user? Web MCP is already sort of moving in that direction. At what point does the user-facing HTML go away?
