this is one way in which Waymo is better than Uber/Lyft

Also a side benefit for those of us who don't have money on either team

An additional risk the article didn't call out: Interest was already impacted by the devastating losses of fan favorite players in the expansion draft. I don't feel that there's momentum around the new roster yet. Hopefully that builds. (signed, a new STH)

LIVE MUSIC IS MAGIC. Currently in a run of amazing shows: Stephen Wilson Jr -> Johnny Blues Skies -> Hayley Wiliams -> Tyler Childers, tonight is Billy Strings. love me some collective effervescence

I've recovered enough from M's Frustration to watch games. SD/Milon Wed and the finish of the Chi/Cle game yesterday were excellent. Playoff baseball is tension-filled fun... especially when your team is no longer playing.

As much as the refs sucked, they generally sucked against both teams. And it appears that they were overactive in many of the weekend's games, so I wonder if there was some internal directive to refereeing crews.

First week of Oct - while we have some warmer days ahead, it felt safe to break out the flannels again :)

Thankfully, my kiddo is now 20 and introduces me to some great music, so I get to go with him. He's psyched to turn 21 so he can get into more shows.

Looks like our tastes crossover a lot, so we'll cross paths at some point (Tyler Childers tonight :-))

Isn't this a diatribe that was a favorite of Alex Jones and (pre-TheOnion) InfoWars?

000

Followed! Any chance you're gonna be at BMFS in Everett next weekend? I'll be there Friday, may grab a ticket for Sat too.

Do any of my mutuals here use last.fm for music tracking? I'd love to follow you there also. I'm at @patl there.

Cooper Kupp is going to be a heck of an NFL coach some day

011

Key tipping point of this game? Mike Macdonald’s “stacking plays” philosophy.

Did Cooper Kupp teach Josh Jobe how to plant feet inbounds on a catch?? 🎉

Playing super sloppy, but only down 7 at home with this much time left? Not the worse spot to be in. We’ll learn a lot about this team in the next 18 min.

000

PHEW he’s all better

000

Must have rubbed some dirt on it, he’s ok now

000

Coop hurt his left arm

100

All that poor play and Sam out, being down 7 isn’t bad. Special teams might win this one again. Or if not, whoever makes The Turnover.

000

Maybe we’ll know soon if Jason Myers is fixed or not

I’m surprised it took NE so long to attack the safeties

In respect of my phone’s AutoCorrect of a typo, I will say here that I believe in Drew Loco

Seattle folks: Isn't it wild how the rain hits and we breathe more deeply and our shoulders relax? I know we'll have another week of blazing hot temps > 80 degrees still, but this week sure is comfy

Pro tip: Do not, for curiosity's sake, skim Calkin's substack post, and then make the mistake of checking out the comments.

Because he’s got a lot of work to do in covering the whole plate, and will strike out A LOT

I was really hoping Dolly would outlive some other folks who are making this world a much worse place. She’s been a hell of an example of how to be a great human being.

So...just to make sure I got this: Kade Anderson made his MLB debut against an excellent and very hot team. He went 5 innings, gave up 2 hits and 1 run w/5 Ks. Then -- and again I want to make sure I'm reading this right -- they *brought him back out to face the top of the order for the 3rd time?*

The good news right now is it’s only a recall for frozen blueberries sold at Publix in southeastern states. Bad news is it’s the highest level of warning that can be announced, so it’s a no BS one.

Pat L @patloughery.me · 20/08/2026

No. And also, blueberries can kill you
