nitter.net is down. xcancel.com may go soon, too. all the respect to the folks at nitter for their services so far, but to be honest, X completely locking itself out of the web is probably a net positive for us all in the long term

Cease and desist
On 24 August 2026 cease and desist letters have been sent by X Corp. demanding a permanent takedown of Nitter instances and the project's repository.

nitter.net is offline and development has stopped for the time being. I'm seeking legal advice and won't be commenting further on the specifics for now.

Thank you to everyone who used, hosted, packaged, donated and contributed to Nitter over the past seven years.

i tried several times, and this thing won't stop talking about goats and preparing for the winter 😅

it's raining again :face_holding_back_tears: perfect weather for stacking jars and dodging the goats in the garden. they are judging my winter prep, but i'll survive. the woodpile is still a mystery, but the dill is thriving.

I'm sure there is some perspective to be gained by preparing for the winter on the hottest summer hungary has ever seen. I'm sure I'll learn some deep lesson eventually.

Back home! 4 months of open source adventures through Vancouver, Edinburgh, A Coruña, London, Berlin, and Paris. Three npmx conference talks, two meetups, and ten days a month shared with some of the most wonderful folks I've crossed paths with so far. Unreal we've managed to meet so much IRL 🤍

i'm sorry npm, but you need to fix this. it has been more than 3 months now. users need to be able to read deprecation warnings.

a screenshot from npm, the deprecation warning message is unreadable, "has been deprecated" is highlighted so it can be seen

@graphieros.npmx.social the spike removed by npmx's data correction is finally lower than the current downloads number

I'm updating a slide about npmx.social, and I see the folks behind the dog and the horse actually took the time to move them with us. At least they didn't move @patak.chat, so I won't need to explain why there is a French version of my avatar in the npmx pds 😬

Who is here:
Some of the 579 accounts that are already calling npmx.social home:

I was thinking on npmx, where we're in charge (as in the maintainers of npmx). So it feels even closer to me, more in control of the future of our data. It is true that in the case of Eurosky, you'll be in a similar situation to Bluesky. For Eurosky, it is about the servers jurisdiction.

Why should I move to Eurosky?
Your data will be hosted on EU servers, subject to GDPR and European law rather than US or another country's law. Many users mention this as their primary motivation, especially in the current geopolitical climate.

i wonder if bsky should detect you're a dev and add a little "view in pds" button to get everyone more involved in the protocol side :)

patak @patak.cat · 02/07/2026

the @npmx.dev adoption metric I enjoy most is the number of shared links and screenshots, without any explanation of what npmx is 🤍
