A major multi-site clinical trial co-led by 🇺🇸 @washumedicine.bsky.social (senior author: @parpia.bsky.social) has shown that post-thrombotic syndrome — a common and often painful complication after deep vein #thrombosis — can be effectively treated with a minimally invasive #stent procedure.

Combined oral contraceptives and hormone-replacement therapy increase the risk of venous thromboembolism, although the absolute risk is low. Transdermal estradiol and micronized progesterone carry lower risk. Learn more: nej.md/3Os4aTs
