The sighting was about 6:30pm. My friend and I already had been sailing slowly at just 1 knot for more than an hour since Spectacle Island. I told the Harbor Police officer who stopped by to ask if we had seen the spout of spray: "I sure can tell you one thing it wasn't. It wasn't the wind."

Yes, so many silly people leap from absolute climate denial to absolute defeatism, hopping right over the delightfully sensible and adequately upbeat position in the middle: We CAN address the climate crisis by drastically reducing aggregate fossil fuel use. It stings a bit, but we can handle it.
