When your Murder Book loot arrives on your birthday! (@mostlybree.kitrocha.com)
3D printed red dragon curled up on top of a stack of three books (yellow, orange, and red). The yellow book lifts off and there's storage inside! 3D printed dragon - The Endless Void - is black and red and pointy. It rests on the back of my hand with its head on my wrist.

So I found something besides clouds that can be ominous: this bathroom graffiti.
Beneath the hook on the inside of a bathroom stall door, "do not intervene." is written in all caps.

Rupert is very pleased with himself (his catnip mouse has dried out from its attempt at swimming in his water bowl, and he got new tissue paper)!
A mostly white cat lies sprawled on his side, exposing his very fluffy belly. His front paws are crossed and held up in front of him. Behind him is his donut shaped tunnel. A black catnip mouse with yellow ears is by his feet. By his head, a toy with feathers peeks out from under a crumpled sheet of red tissue paper. He's on a multi-colored rug (kinda splatters on a light background).

Went from "sashiko class at the local yarn store" to finished object in... less than a month!
A fabric glasses case sits next to aqua glasses on a grey background. The glasses case is made from small grey gingham embroidered all over in orange, yellow, turquoise and purple-y fuschia, forming a sashiko pattern of a grid of little crosses connected by a diagonal grid of lines.

Just a recent one - after I explained that I had tried a mirena, and bled for 6 months straight, "you took it out then? Sometimes it takes that long to settle down." And I mean, it came out in consultation with the doc who put it in, who also thought 6 straight months of bleeding was plenty.

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful
An aircraft passenger oxygen mask: a drop down passenger mask with air bag and yellow plastic mouth and nose cover, oxygen tube has been cut; Demonstration model used by flight attendant crew for passenger instruction. Has text on the side indicating that it's non-functional.

When we got to "meds would be helpful" I talked to my GP who was willioto start that process. When I hit a higher dose on the med we liked, I got referred over to psych. That's fine. If they were the only person I was seeing, I'd want a better match, but they're not.

After pondering and doing some general internet wandering, I picked a practice that had ok vibes and filled in their online intake form. They matched me with a therapist. She's great; I followed her when I left the practice. I was 100% expecting it to take more steps, but it's ok to just start.

This weekend we hit two years since Rupert came to live here!
A buff and white cat is lying down (on a mottled multicolored rug), looking at the camera. His paws are wrapped around a long kick toy that has little tiny cats and larger dumpster fires printed on it. His donut cave is in the background.

At this morning's Newcastle Christians at Pride Service we were invited to reflect on what Pride means to us. My answer has changed over the years, as I have changed and the world has changed. This is part of it now:
A lesbian priest goes to Pride

“Are you a real priest?”
You dance towards me shimmering
with sequins and sass, and courage
that comes hard won.

“Will you bless me?”
And something dancing in your eyes
that looks like longing,
long denied.

I raise my hand.
Around us hands raised
with the beat of
defiant joy.

I raise my hand:
“The blessing of God…”
more than almighty,
more than holy,
wild and free and
dancing out of reach,
weaving us
into the crowd.

This blessing bounces off a glitter ball,
refracted with the light,
broken shards of glory clinging
to our clothes,
snagging on fishnets,
sliding over slicked-back hair,
landing lightly on tattooed biceps,
scars, jackets worn like armour.

It follows me home,
this blessing,
trailing after me as if
reluctant to leave the party,

follows me to the altar
with the dawn,
dancing through stained glass:
cracked beauty on immaculate linen.

I raise in my hands
sparkling silver and bread:
“this is my body.”
In my hands, my body, this body,
the blessed and broken meet:
the pulse of last night’s music
echoing into shining silence.

Yes: I have never been more real.

Blue Bottle Games, as a policy, does not use generative AI. It's something we've discussed as a team, weighing the pros and cons, and ultimately, we decided it was not for us. Recently, while chatting with a colleague, she mentioned it was useful hearing our reasoning. So: Sharing time! 1/12

If you see this, quote a pic of you in sunglasses.
White woman in a black tank top wearing black sunglasses with rainbow starburst on the upper outer corners of the frames. Her brown hair is short and messy, with long bags. She's sitting in a car, and there's something purple in the back seat.

This lets you look up reciprocal library memberships: reciprocard.com YMMV based on your library has (Boston cards get you access to 7 other regional libraries, Jax has none), but it's easy to look and add them to Libby. (This was on my "figure that out" list, but this makes it easy.)

There is a problem with the stories we tell & the way we perceive how change happens. The Union of Pinnacle Tenants, the largest tenant-led union in NYC—are the reason Mamdani took action. Organized people power is pivotal. Top down stories of elected heroes (even ones we like) are not sufficient.

He then came up on the table to make off with the packing paper (which I am far more willing to share).
A buff and white cat is leaning into the frame from above to inspect things on a crowded table. There's a soda can, a box of tissues, a small mailing box, and several pieces of that neat packing paper with lots of slits in it that gives it dimension. A buff and white cat, seen from above, leans over his prize, a piece of brown packing paper. He's on a grey rug over a wood floor.
