Spent about 4 hours animating the valve gear in motion on this French 231 E locomotive, it's not perfect, but it gets the idea across (More of a "cartoon" take on the complex yet satisfying Walshaerts valve gear + Lenz rotary valve than going for exact realism)

A little work-in-progress I wanted to share. I animate the valve gear on my engines traditionally in order to reduce the number of layers, in the case of Rebecca the Pacific here, I have a 16-drawing "walk cycle" that I can reuse.
