I highly recommend this CBC interview with @thomasgreenyvr.bsky.social of the @davidsuzukifdn.bsky.social. Tom joins @cbcstephenquinn.bsky.social to discuss recent provincial and federal energy announcements. This is a master class in effective climate communications: www.cbc.ca/listen/live-...

Update. London drugs has Not been shut out by the UCP. Each store has to enter their availability separately and the pharmacist just did that at noon. I now have a booking for both flu and covid Oct 19 at LD. 🙏

Danielle Smith knows nothing about those separatist ‘negotiations’ in D.C.? So what good is her ‘Top Secret’ security clearance?  - Alberta Politics
Early last May, news media reported that Alberta Premier Danielle Smith had been granted “Top Secret” security clearance. Really? A report in The Globe and Mail Saturday with new details about what a ...

I called one of the Calgary pharmacies that is listed on the AHS site as offering both flu and covid shots, but was able only to book a flu shot because even that pharmacy has NOT yet been advised as to when they will receive the covid vax from the govt.

Exactly. I might call that Medicine Shoppe too. It seems to be the closest. I don't think I've ever noticed it there, but I can find it.

So stupid that they have those two vaccines separated that way as you CAN get them both at once. This way people will have to run around their towns and cities trying to scrounge them up separately. We're living in Someone's perverse mental universe, and I hate it in here.
141
Pamela Banting, PhD 🇨🇦 @pamelabanting.bsky.social · 21h
There ARE places in Calgary where you can get both vaccines, though there are also lots there that DON'T have covid shots too, but there are none in Cochrane, and none in Calgary at any London Drugs. Either they are totally disorganized and can't meet their own deadline, or this is perversity.

Pamela Banting, PhD 🇨🇦 @pamelabanting.bsky.social · 21h
I'm trying to book for myself, and there's nowhere listed in Cochrane where you can get covid+flu vaccines. 40,000 people, and our MLA WAS UCP (Guthrie). And I don't know what the UCP has against London Drugs. No covid shots for them. Do they think they're foreign?
000
Pamela Banting, PhD 🇨🇦 @pamelabanting.bsky.social · 22h
So booking a covid and flu vaccine, or either one, through the Alberta Health Services online is a nightmare. I've been on the site for 20 minutes, and there are ZERO places in my town of 40,000 to get a covid vaccine. London Drugs, my regular choice, has not been allowed covid vaxx.

These people who want to throw away the province and country overlap significantly with those who want to deny immigrants the necessities of healthcare and education associated with being resident in AB. This is illogical. Let’s devise a system whereby seppies give their health cards to immigrants.

Have the people who want potentially to throw their province and country away to “send a message to Ottawa” never heard of letters, envelopes (no stamp required) or email?

Dear Seppies, They’re just not that into you. They might want the bitumen, most of which they already have, and the water that we don’t actually have, but you? Meh. 🫤

Florida weighs ditching property taxes and sticking Canadians with the bill | CBC News
Florida voters are weighing whether to scrap residential property taxes and the state's governor has a solution to that potentially huge revenue loss: tax Canadians more.

It’s true. The margaritas, alligators, the beach, and the oversized buffet platter aren’t going to come up here just because of those big feelings. Maybe we need some billboards advertising Florida house prices. Probably some good deals right now.

The principal players may be seeking huge honking commissions for delivering AB to the US. What they seem to like is money. Lotsa money. I think independence is just a colourful alibi.

I also wonder what waters the separatists are offering the US. Southern AB is semi-arid at the very best of times. Sylvan Lake? The bitumen companies are intent on releasing the water of the tar sands holding ponds into the Athabasca River. Do Americans want to drink that brew? What water?

No, I don’t think they/we are (or perceive ourselves as) extreme but as the article shows and as we see in the US manipulators target less educated people and fundamentalist Christians. Here too the religion of “our” oil flows freely through and beyond those first two categories.

Alberta separatists have gone to D.C. offering fresh water and oil in exchange for American support – and Republican operatives have provided tactical assistance inside the province

I might not be right, but has Stephen Harper not been on salary or some sort of retainer for the past couple of years to set up and manage an Alberta Pension Plan? What did he think Alberta needed an APP for if not for the purpose of separatism?

In addition to getting “things built” here in Alberta, we also create the conditions for things like Summerland, Lytton, Sooke, and part of Vancouver, not to mention Fort McMurray and Jasper, to burn.
