This week is Demystifying Death Week. Years back it used to be branded Death Awareness week - but everyone is aware of death! However, people are often interested to learn more about end of life issues - so Demystifying Death week provides practical useful information. #DemystifyingDeath

"But now I understand there are no ordinary lives - that every death is the end of a single event in time's history: an event so improbable it represents a miracle, and irreplaceable in every particular." Such an honest, vulnerable, compassionate and beautifully written book.

The National Grid right now - 90% renewables. Radical change (of a good kind) is possible with ambition and political will.

Next year's SPPC major conference will be on 3rd Nov. We've checked to avoid obvious clashes, and are sharing the date early to help others planning events to avoid diary conflicts.

Give sorrow words; the grief that does not speak whispers o’er-fraught heart & bids it break Shakespeare The @toabsentfriends.bsky.social festival enables spaces which acknowledge that we all carry experiences of loss. #ToAbsentFriends

@drkathrynmannix.bsky.social Edinburgh is famously accessible from the NE of England, & we are always delighted to welcome palliative care people across the border to our conferences. We have a great line up this year, closer & cheaper than London. www.palliativecarescotland.org.uk/content/annu...

Considering our reputation as a grey and rainy place domestic solar power Scotland is v effective. Data from my roof so far this year: 1) generated more than I've used (all my heating and hot water is electric so I use a lot) 2) sold surplus back to the grid for over £400.

I'm back visiting Wheathampsead, the village where I was born. Many things seem unchanged, but standing in this familiar-but-no-longer-empty field I realise I am older than a substantial tree! #ArborealTime

Whilst explaining his decision not to support the Assisted Dying Bill John Swinney has made clear his personal and governmental commitment to improving palliative care.

SPPC has written to the Scottish Parliament @SP_HSCS Committee, highlighting important points on coercion and suffering which it wasn't possible to raise at the recent oral evidence session on the Assisted Dying for Terminally Ill Adults (Scotland) Bill #AssistedDying
