I promise I won't spam the feed with my stolen art, but I wanted to share this one because I enjoyed painting it. I used black watercolors on toned paper, something I hadn't tried before. (There is a Leyendecker watercolor that made me want to try this combo of materials) "Nocturne"

You can still preserve lines. Maybe you haven’t found a technique that works for you? Look at Tran Nygen’s work - she’s using lines and fills and does beautiful things with them.

Also stolen was a box of precious handmade/hand sewn Christmas ornaments that my mother made when I was small, back in the 70’s when my dad was away at Vietnam. I put them in this new storage unit because I thought they’d be safer there. So many regrets.

It pains me to think that someone probably took it to a thrift store to sell for drug money, the most likely scenario. I enjoyed painting this in particular because the idea just hit me one day and I had to do it. I know it is more cartoony than my usual stuff. Anyway if anyone sees it - lmk

One of the paintings that was stolen was this one, framed. It’s big - like 15x20”. I’ve been tasked with putting together an inventory, which is an awful thing to do. I’m grateful that I have five paintings in my apartment on my walls, but for some reason I stored this one.

The easy way to stop there being new art for you to steal is to make it financially impossible for anybody to earn a living making art. Every branch we all sit on sawn through. Nobody asked for the branches to be sawn through. But they came and sawed through them for us all the same. Twats.

A friend of mine from childhood is a professional drummer and has a drumming school! I imagine finding rhythm is rough at first and annoying to others, but if that’s what the kid wants I hope those around him can support!

Absolutely. I have fond memories of trying to figure out songs on the piano for hours at a time after school when my parents were at work. That’s how artists are born - just let kids figure it out.

There is a kid in the neighborhood who apparently has started to learn the violin and honestly I think it is the sweetest thing ever. I know ppl hate poorly executed music from kids, but like drawing, you need to start somewhere. I hope they get lots of support and have a good teacher. #supportkids

When I worked in Palo Alto at a game company the engineers and managers had a certain contempt for the art team that I’ve not experienced anywhere else. Their attitude is very much: “just make it you idiots”. They didn’t understand sketching, preliminary work, none of that.
