It's been two years and I'm more than ready to go back. My first visit was a business trip in 2001. I clearly remember falling in love with the city one night returning to my hotel via cable car after dark. I have been fortunate to visit every few years since and I'm very overdue. #sanfrancisco

I've worked a lot of "unskilled" jobs, including scallop sorting on the docks, up to 18 hrs/day. It kept body & soul together, but good lord, we deserved more than a few bucks & some damaged seafood. It was cold, disgusting, exhausting. We couldn't begin to afford the food we packed. #allworkmatters

Female ruby-throated #hummingbird (Archilochus colubris) 2025. Females haven't arrived yet this year, but will show up shortly. They mostly disappear for nesting & return with juveniles thru summer. Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.
