SOMEDAY I will get to do a Count of Monte Cristo tabletop game—board game or roleplaying—but this memory will tide me over until that day 😌

Last event tonight was a Three Musketeers inspired DND sesh. I got to play Milady deWinter, my actual favorite character from this book, but I did not get to seduce anyone or carry out the secret mission I'd been entrusted with, alas 😔 #gameholecon

Thank you! It's no joke that you were the first both I stopped to chat at, and after making the rounds in the dealer hall AND playing in a 4-hour session I still kept thinking about your games. I'm excited to try them out after the con!!

I promised myself I wouldn't buy anything until this weekend, but after walking through the Dealer Hall this morning I couldn't resist going back for Protector's Memories by @critkituk.bsky.social and Terminus+I Crave the Loop by @brightbard.bsky.social #gameholecon

Highlight of the session was when I rolled two 1s to Unleash my Powers, and then two 6s to Take a Powerful Blow (the worst combo of rolls literally possible 😂)

I let myself sleep in this morning, so my first event this afternoon was Masks: The New Generation with GM Calvin. I've been wanting to play this one for a long while, and the character I built when I first discovered the game years ago also happened to be a Transformed! #gameholecon

I already backed the kickstarter but if I hadn't I'd be signing up for a late pledge for sure.

My last event of the day was this Thieves' Tails playtest from a local game designer Brandon Sandberg, which I signed up for on a whim and I'm SO glad I did because this game is WONDERFUL. So many cute characters! Really well thought out either placement heist mechanics!

Forgot to post the last one because I was running off to my next table - once again so close to taking it! Finspan is still my favorite of the three, I love how the game mechanics evolved over iterations. Thank you so much to Heather for organizing this triple game event for today!!! #gameholecon

TWO points away from winning! Regardless, a fun time. I've played more Wyrmspan than the other -span games, but not with the Dragon Guild expansion... and I proceeded to not use any of the expansion mechanics anyways 😅 #gameholecon

I didn't win, but I had tons of fun! Definitely more fun to play Wingspan with people than a computer. #gameholecon

Kenna May @ GameHole Con @pagesofkenna.bsky.social · 15/10/2026

I'm not against starting a pickup game of Wyrmspan at that same time, if people don't mind a host who's openly not very competitive at card games.

I scheduled my first day of #gameholecon fairly light for myself: all card games, no RPGs. Unfortunately, I only got into two of the SpanSpanSpan tables. I'll need to find something to do instead of watching the Wyrmspan players enviously 😅

Got my rental car and picked up my badge, now I'm off to... buy shoes... because I only own one pair of comfortable walking shoes and they're snow boots lol (I might add a sticker to write 'Kenna' on my badge - when I went to GHC last year I forgot to br consistent in my branding lol)

Quote with a title screen that is important to you. It's unnecessarily difficult to find a video of the title screen that actually includes the letters breaking apart and the [spoilers] in the night sky, which are the best parts about this title screen.

A screenshot of the title screen for Outer Wilds; the letters in 'wilds' are cracked and drifting apart in pieces. Additional text reads "Press A to start." In the lower corner is a campfire on a small planet surrounded by several trees and a spaceship. In the black background there are a loose scattering of stars.

First day of #ACES2025 done, and I can't sleep now because I'm too excited for tomorrow 😅 I've got about a 40 minute drive from where I'm staying with family, so if I'm a little sleepy tomorrow (today?) it's just cause I had to wake up oh so early!

My feelings on AI generated art are complex and inconcrete, but at the end of the day, most if it's just bad. 😅 And if I'd gone into that video knowing it was AI... well, I wouldn't have watched it, but if I'd HAD to for some reason, then at least I would have expected it to be bad!

Kenna May @ GameHole Con @pagesofkenna.bsky.social · 31/03/2025

Finally I went to check the video description, really expecting to see that the composer/performer was some oblivious white guy. Reader, it was AI 🤦

I listen to a lot of video game music on Youtube while editing, and yesterday the algorithm recommended a 'mariachi covers of Zelda' video. I got 15 minutes into it before I had to turn it off because it was so bad, clearly not done by someone who knew anything about mariachi.

The bottom of this rabbit hole is that my brother owns alpaca he has to shear every year and no idea what to do with the fiber, so, with very little effort on his part and very much effort on my part, he could have an alpaca Christmas scarf in a decade (if we haven't disowned each other by then)

Good (bad?) news: my mom HAS a rigid heddle loom that apparently been sitting in its shipping box since before my dad died, and if I'm willing to put it together I absolutely may use it. We're doing it man we're making this happen.

The fiber arts brainworms continue, as I pause work every ten minutes to look up more about weaving. What if I spun my own yarn to weave into my own scarves??? What if I could find a weaving loom for less than $100?? 🤔

000 0

Kenna May @ GameHole Con @pagesofkenna.bsky.social · 26/03/2025

Passing them on is a great idea! I've also been trying to figure out what I would DO with the yarn once I've spun it. I'm not a knitter or crocheter—I do embroidery, and there are some cool projects which incorporate yarn, which I might try out.

I was just gonna say! Sourcing the roving seems to be the thing I'm hung up on. I actually have some Merino from my old needle felting days, and that's all my local craft store seemed to have, but I think Corriedale (or something like it) is what I need to start with. I guess it's to Etsy for me!

I watched a woman working with a drop spindle for about twenty minutes this weekend, and now it's all I can do to stop myself from buying one for me. I really don't need a new craft hobby to abandon after two weeks... but what if I DON'T abandon this one, hmm??

I've written a one page patch for the new D&D Players Manual where I solve the problem of people's campaigns grinding to a halt because they can't schedule a game. PDF is the link. Print it out. Stick it in your manuals. May work for other games too. #ttrpg #dnd oldmenrunningtheworld.com?p=304

A full page of guides to how to schedule games in the style of the D&D manual. The link has the full PDF - I couldn't get all the text there in an ALT text.
