You're good! I was being serious in that i wasn't subtweeting anyone! I don't really think my takes on the particulars of Patrick's life are more right than anyone else's, i just have them lol. The fact that i have like 30k words written about him just means I've spent lots of time thinking abt it 😭

I feel like after a certain point i have to stop trying to morph every single challengers headcanon into something everyone agrees with and realize its ok to have my own opinion

Ngl wicked really wasnt on my radar at all, I've become less of a musical guy over the years and i historically don't enjoy movie remakes of musicals but yall really got me curious again cause damn! I saw the show irl growing up so im curious to see how the movie holds!

November 20th is Transgender Day of Remembrance. TDOR was founded by Gwendolyn Ann Smith, a transgender woman, in 1999 to honour the life of Rita Hester, a black trans woman who was murdered in 1998. Protect your trans friends and family, speak up for them, and listen to them.

Didn't get to check in on bluesky yesterday...hope everyone's doing well out here... here's a pic of me at the zendaya lookalike contest the other day

A picture of me, a fat black person in a red raincoat, a gray sweater, and black jeans standing in a park. I'm holding a printed out photo of zendaya wearing that gigantic black hat with a goofy smile on my face.

josh o'connor's slutty earring @pacificchiller.bsky.social · 20/11/2024

Like personally ive written almost 30k words just about patashi but almost all of it is in the shadow of art and his place within their dynamic bc you can't write about those two without writing about art. Like, you can't separate them. He's integral to their relationship!

020

josh o'connor's slutty earring @pacificchiller.bsky.social · 20/11/2024

Yeah ive never understood the concept of liking challengers but hating tashi bc what that tells me is that you literally didnt like challengers bc it's a movie about tashi's life and her experience coping with the death of her career and the emotional fallout that follows

151

josh o'connor's slutty earring @pacificchiller.bsky.social · 20/11/2024

Yeah they would absolutely need tashi to help them through that together tbh, at least at first imo!! These men are so emotionally repressed and used to mediating their obvious desire for one another thru tashi that even as grown men they'd need her help lol

020

josh o'connor's slutty earring @pacificchiller.bsky.social · 20/11/2024

EXACTLY!!! Like the thing that has always compelled me about this movie IS the throuple. I post lots about the individual relationships but all three ships of those are informed by and enhanced by the throuple dynamic and by tashi herself (even with artrick as we've discussed)

120

josh o'connor's slutty earring @pacificchiller.bsky.social · 20/11/2024

Oh yeah im sure theres lots of good stuff going on there, dont wanna paint it with a super broad brush! I havent hung around there long enough to have a truly definitive opinion on what's going on over there. No hate tbh...lord knows challengerstwt has its own problems lol

informs both of their variably prickly relationships to their sexualities, actually! It's all connected imo. That and also...this movie literally revolves around tashi!! You cant have any of this bisexual chaos without her. She mediates their desire.

120

josh o'connor's slutty earring @pacificchiller.bsky.social · 20/11/2024

Yeah i have a lot of personal appreciation for artrick's personal relationship and the stuff that happened to them pre-tashi but literally their entire adult lives are defined by their desire for/connection to tashi and maybe its a warm take but i think their relationship to her also informs (cont)

for that including misogynoir and a related denial of her agency and intelligence as a person, and the constant veneration of art and patrick as the internet sexymen boyfriends of the year...but yeah!! It's just like...what are yall getting out of this movie if you dont see these dynamics?
