very bad news. You can't build women's cycling by only creating the top of a pyramid while the foundations keep crumbling away with no teams and no races for non-WWT level riders

USA rode brilliantly, and as a team, they bloody deserved that. McNulty deserved that. But that was a ridiculous race. Brilliant.

Funny how Reform weren't complaining about the retroactive part of the government's political party funding legislation last week. Can't work out why.

If I give you some money it's not out of the goodness of my heart, I'd like something in return. If you give me some money it's fine if we have the same arrangement. So I won't give you money and you don't give me £36m.

If you feel like donating to the RNLI, here’s a link. I just have. Their minimum donation is £2: I think it might be nice for them to receive a lot of donations this week, even if they’re mostly very modest. Just so they know a lot of people out here appreciate their work. rnli.org/support-us/g...

Immediately before the final climb of stage 1 of the Tour de France Femmes the race passed Olympic museum in Lausanne, where stage 1 of the 2022 Tour de Romandie Féminin finished. Arlenis Sierra (Movistar), took her only European WorldTour victory that day and raced the Tour today too.

Just spotted this. It's misleading and unnecessary, who eats 5/6th of a bag?
A 36 gram bag of cheesy Wotsits, yet on the bag it states above the nutritional information that the serving size is 30g.

I love the ride from the Galibier towards Grenoble, the way today's stage Tour is taking. I took this there in 2017, the day after Annemiek van Vleuten won La Course.

The Sigma Sports and Rouvy ads during the TdF coverage have one thing in common; they portray cycling as serious, something earnest to be suffered and endured. Whatever happened to freedom, exhilaration, well-being? What happened to enjoyment?

Good to see the Tour of Britain Women expanding to five stages, but in claiming it's the longest edition ever is denying the existence of the Women's Tour, run by Sweetspot. The 2018 Women's Tour was 5 stages and 43km longer than this year's race.

My outstanding memory of Ben Stokes playing cricket is Headingley 2019. I was following the match as best I could while working at the Ladies Tour of Norway, after the final stage chatting with the Australian staff on the Mitchelton Scott team, admitting England couldn't match the Aussies.

If you're interested Henry Nowak's murder, and the subsequent fall out, this article sets a lot straight. It includes judge's comments. I still don't like the officer's comments, but neither does the author of this excellent piece. www.ft.com/content/aa94...

Kemi Badenoch says his killing needs to be seen as a ‘Stephen Lawrence moment’ but the failures in both cases differ

Why do the idiots of the world see something where there's nothing. Why can't the police handling of the scene of Henry Nowak's be pure incompetence? In 26 years of front line policing I never had anyone reminding me of government policy as I arrived. I just cracked on.

I cannot believe how Farage felt able to openly incite people to act unlawfully. It worked, they're rioting Hampshire. And best? Front line coppers I know have never heard of this guidance which allegedly promotes inequity. Farage and his acolytes are incredibly dangerous.

The Ca' del Poggio, which features as the final climb in today's Giro stage, has also featured in the women's race. In 2017 it formed part of stage 3 which finished with a bunch sprint won by Hannah Barnes. The climb came further from the finish than today, though.
