the reason i don't think it'll happen here is that the democrat coalition is way more diverse/intersectional, and trans rights is a heavily polarized issue here in comparison. really bad when republicans are in power, but also means there is very limited institutional support for transphobic dems

fwiw i do think erin is directionally correct. keir starmer was arguably far more destructive for trans rights in the UK than any tory could ever be, as now neither major party is pushing back against anti-trans sentiment. the democrat situation is very different, but the fear is very real.

the main problem with this is that the belief driving a ban on trans athletes requires a belief that trans women "aren't really women" and so it never ends up being "just a sports ban". the issue has to be tackled at its root instead of conceding the foundation of the anti-trans attacks

yeah that's how it is. business being so easy actually worked in my favor because it meant i could spend all my time doing extracurriculars, more focused upskilling, and lots and lots of networking. the students who took advantage of it are doing great. those who played valorant all day are not.
