Look at how the Ceratonoth herds deal with the inclemency in the Plains. The males stand up and absorb the lighting strikes, while the females stay low and sleep. The way their big tails are shaped really reminds me of that episode of Mythbusters where they make a tornado-proof sleeping bag thing.
