i think the "basically monochrome" comment isn't meant to be taken quite as literally as that - rather that the monochrome filter works well because the colour in that game is very washed out and visual differentiation comes across overwhelmingly via differing values rather than differing hues

a shiny metallic blue insect with an ant-like front and a very large, plated abdomen. it may be a meloe violaceus oil beetle.

this is what the shock absorber looks like btw. after i spotted it, i looked away for a second to grab my tweezers and couldn't find it when i looked back. found it after a few minutes, picked it up, dropped it again from a height of 10cm, losing it again for 5 minutes before finally recovering it
