Other Days @otherdays.bsky.social · 02/09/2026Parece que era "Let's be careful out there". Suena más natural en inglés, pero creo que la traducción al castellano, al no ser una frase hecha, suena más inusual y resulta más memorable. 010
Other Days @otherdays.bsky.social · 29/08/2026That's such a crazy song, maybe the craziest since Elvis Presley and America. 000
Other Days @otherdays.bsky.social · 29/08/2026En el Fragments Deluxe vienen las canciones que estaban ya en el Tell Tale Signs. Vale todo la pena. No es la maravilla del disco final, pero hay joyas también. 010
Other Days @otherdays.bsky.social · 25/08/2026Have you heard the Fragments outtakes (2CDs of new outtakes + 1CD of the Tell Tale Signs outtakes)? Nothing beats the album versions and most of the mixes are modern, but there's some amazing alternate versions of the album songs. 200
Other Days @otherdays.bsky.social · 10/08/2026Yes, that was it. It may have been written to reinforce the "Snape loves Lily and hates James" position that makes Snape ambivalent towards Harry, but it makes James look bad and it's weird that Harry is totally fine with it. When I read it I was like "so bullying weaker people is fine?" 010
Other Days @otherdays.bsky.social · 10/08/2026My memory is pretty vague too, but there's some sort of flashback where we witness Harry's parents being pretty nasty to Snape and there's zero self-reflection from Harry about this. I mean, it was probably obscured by Snape's dramatic actions at the end of the book, but it left a bad taste. 120
Other Days @otherdays.bsky.social · 10/08/2026The bullying was fine because it had happened to someone who was not part of the chosen ones. Because of the bullying Snape had become evil and that was that. No remorse. At least that's how I remember it, I have not got back to that one. But it really took the shine off the series for me. 120
Other Days @otherdays.bsky.social · 10/08/2026For me it was reading the Half Blood Prince, where (if I remember correctly) it is revealed that Harry's parents had bullied Snape in school. I was expecting some sort of reassessment of Snape, Harry coming to terms with the darker side of his parents, etc.. and there was nothing! 120
Other Days @otherdays.bsky.social · 10/08/2026the book remain magical, but maybe they are better left that way. 050
Other Days @otherdays.bsky.social · 10/08/2026It also reminds me of reading My family and other animals in English as a grown-up and realising that all the quirky and eccentric stories I had loved when reading the Spanish translation as a kid were loaded with awful colonial stereotypes about inferior and savage Greeks. My memories of reading 180
Other Days @otherdays.bsky.social · 10/08/2026bullying is more or less sanctioned, some general xenophobia, etc. It's a bit like rewatching Father Ted, Black Books or the IT Crowd (all of which I enjoyed more than HP). You can see an undercurrent of nastiness that you previously assumed away. 2130
Other Days @otherdays.bsky.social · 10/08/2026I re-read them at some point. The first one is charming, then the quality drops sharply. She's good at making the story exciting on a first read, but on a reread you realise the plotting is ridiculously bad. There all sort of negative undertones all along, a lot of class stuff, bad gender roles, 1100

Other Days @otherdays.bsky.social · 19/07/2026That was a brainwave, plus the idiosyncratic idea to not have a bass player. The deluxe edition released a few years ago has some extra songs (which are ok) plus the DVD of the film (which is essential, in particular as the performances are all difference than on the album). 000
Other Days @otherdays.bsky.social · 12/07/2026The Kimera is inspired by a one-transistor Hofner preamp from the 60s, but with volume, overdrive and tone controls. It's one of those pedals that interacts with the guitar and amp. When I played it in the shop it sounded like a broken 60s radio - super cool. Lovely to find shops with unique pedals! 000

Other Days @otherdays.bsky.social · 26/03/2026So it's very far from perfect, but I like to highlight the good parts when I find them. Like William Gibson said, the future is already here, it's just not very evenly distributed. I think it's our duty to push for it to be better distributed! 010
Other Days @otherdays.bsky.social · 26/03/2026What I think works better are the legal requirements for good ventilation in new or extensively refurbished buildings. I think that's why the M Hall in Bozar has such good ventilation, but also De Centrale in Ghent, etc. 110
Other Days @otherdays.bsky.social · 26/03/2026Unfortunately the law you quote in the end was not made compulsory and so it's widely ignored. But the workplace law is compulsory and should be taken into account. But unions do not care much about it and the doctors that look after the wellbeing of workers do not raise these issues. 110
