Look I was excited to give Dungeon Crawler Carl a go but that Amazon Kindle exclusivity kinda poured cold water on that

Which can be applied to pretty much anything 😄 I guess it all boils down to critical thinking, which is something I believe universities were trying to teach students long before AI got mainstream

It’s tricky because each new model release invalidates a few assumptions. I find summarising got pretty good, actually!

Which false affordances are you referring to?

European attitudes toward digital privacy and technology regulation are often dismissed in the US as technophobia. But there are distinct, historically grounded reasons why Europe has moved further and faster to regulate Big Tech, writes Enrique Dans, a professor at IE Business School, Madrid.

Is anyone here gainfully employed as a software engineer / developer / programmer / insert equivalent term, who only learned to code after having generated code with LLMs? Or do you know anyone who is?

Got early access but haven’t had the chance to look into yet. Definitely looks interesting though!

I mean I’ve never seen a book series with such high ratings across thousands of reviews on Goodreads. Must be something!

Then I call /merge, which merges the PR according to my preferences and will also update any related tickets in the backlog. That’s pretty much where I’m at. What does your setup look like? Also happy to answer any questions! Skills repository: github.com/osteel/agent...

If a lot of UI/UX changes are involved, I like to ask for an HTML artifact, which is basically how I do my own QA (much easier than trying to reach each screen/state manually).

Yannick @osteel.bsky.social · 02/09/2026
Basically, the agent hands me a green PR, and I review it manually from there. Depending on the changes I ask for, I re-run some of the loop’s steps.

* Main implementation * /simplify * /polish (if UX/UI changes) * /review * /analyse (deterministic checks – style, architecture, etc.) * /cover (gaps in test coverage) * /qa (if UX/UI changes – in a browser) * /wrap-up (docs updates, ADRs, PR) * /monitor (makes sure CI is green)

* Open Claude Code in the terminal * Call /tackle skill with a ticket/issue number * That pulls the task, gathers context, and /grill-me about it (a customised version of Matt Pocock’s skill) * I review the final plan, then the loop (mostly subagents):

Quick Claude tip: if you're reorganising your local folders, don't forget to tell Claude about it, e.g.: "This is the project's new API folder." Claude will migrate existing memories to the new folder.

I'm at a stage where my main engineering issue is the duration of my agent loops. Any task goes through the same loop, but it's disproportionately heavy for many of them. I need to tailor the loop to the task somehow

Just watched Inside the Manosphere after finishing Adolescence yesterday, while watching my one-year-old son sleeping on the baby monitor. How hard can it be to keep him off the internet till he’s 20?

Ok I’ll have a read, because I can’t really think of a use case 🤔

What do you use for this?

Yannick @osteel.bsky.social · 09/08/2026
Agentic work means I work on two things in parallel most of the time now. I can handle 3, but opportunities to do so are fairly rare. I occasionally tried to do more, but looks like 3 is my limit – beyond that, that’s too much context-switching for my brain

Yannick @osteel.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
Then again, I wouldn’t worry too much about people who’ve done The Work for years already… so long as they don’t fight The Tech too much. And that’s the thing: I think we’ll use The Tech no matter what, because going back would feel ludicrous. Even if that means running open-weight models locally.
100
Yannick @osteel.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
Yeah, they’re the primary beneficiaries. My belief is that ultimately, every developer will be forced to embrace those aspects though, to remain relevant in the economy. I might be wrong too though!
100
Yannick @osteel.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
Frankly, I don’t think AI takes that away. It just makes you take a few steps back to focus on the wider picture. I agree about preferences/brain wiring though. I feel for those to whom actually writing the code is part of the fun (because then again, I’m 95% sure this is over)
000
Yannick @osteel.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
Sorry, misread that one. Yeah I think ultimately every company will have that, to a point where it’s a not a competitive advantage anymore (but if you don’t have it, you’re dead)
010
Yannick @osteel.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
I think this speaks to these tools currently being much more beneficial to solo builders. That’s where adoption is easiest I guess, teams will take more time (and trial and error)
100
Yannick @osteel.bsky.social · 01/08/2026
I think both are already happening, but the successful teams are the ones where people still talk to each other 😄

Means to an end first, but I eventually started enjoying computer science properly. Writing code has been tenuous for a while, but I had not realised it because the outcome was rewarding. AI made it obvious. Now I get to the outcome much more quickly
